not, its Augusten something...Its a Memoir of his childhood, where his mom gave him away to her psychiatrist who was a little looney himself.
I love Augusten he is wonderful. You have to read the sequel Dry. He also has a book of short stories called Magical Thinking. I feel in love with Running with Scissors when I read it a few years ago. But I don't know how it will translate to film without Augusten's narration I don't think it would be as funny or impressive.

It is different for the first book, but I really enjoyed it. If you really can't get into it try Magical thinking it's a short story book by him it's great and it's more like the original. I think I read it in like 1 1/2 days. It's very funny!!!!
I read Running with Scissors and Dry and enjoyed both of them, but they are very different. I think the stuff in Running with Scissors was true because honestly, how could you make some of that stuff up???
I read Running with Scissors, in 2 days, I couldn't put it down. It's hard to believe that it is true. I know they are making a movie of it, I think Gwenyth Paltrow & Julianne Moore are in it, I'm not sure who's playing who. I can't wait to see who is palying the lead, Augusten.

I read this... definately an interesting book... i couldnt put it down either!! Can you imagine growing up in that situation???
It was a crazy book, very interesting and like th other posters said, how could you make that stuff up???
I get to finally read it now (thanks donna). They said he's a lot like david sedaris. i'm just finshing up 'Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim' but I like 'Me Talk Pretty One Day' better if you like AB, you'll probably like DS> I'll let you know how I like it
