rushed wedding help!!!! please!!!

My wedding was supposed to be next year but due to family illness we pushed it up. We managed to book Coral House for Aug. 31st (ceremony and reception) but obviously I was expecting more time to plan. I'm still getting ready to send the engagment announcements since most of my family is out of state and won't attend. If I send my invites in mid-July (12th - 14th ish????) is it reasonable to expect a response by August 14th? Coral House said they only need the head count a couple days before

I got lucky and got a perfect off the rack dress for a really good price and it needs NO alterations (how rare is that?!) but any suggestions on somewhere not overpriced to get headpiece/veil?? I'm storing the dress in my home so if i have to I can always take it to places with me

I am so screwed my mom lives out of state and I have no one to help me plan and i'm going nuts!!!!

Hi,

A lot of the girls here have used C&H for their headpieces. She was in the tri-county fleamarket but apparently is not there. I would ask Curly2003 or Jennbaby....know they definitely got theirs there. They would be better w/ new location and timing.

I would order invites now and send out by mid June.

Congrats on finding the perfect dress!!!

Anything else you need help with don't hesitate to ask!

Re: rushed wedding help!!!! please!!!

Oh yeah and I forgot to add - I have NO dressed for my bridal party, my MOH lives upstate, my BM is my younger sister (15 yr old) so i have to figure out how I'm going to manage to buy her dress plus the FG dress for my 10 year old sister Our BM lives in Florida too. This is so crazy!! LOL Coral House is providing almost everything except DJ, some flowers (bouquets/corsages), limo, and photos.

My parents are having it out over who's paying for what on top of it all, and all these people need deposits for everything and I don't have the money to lay out for it! (Mom said she'd pay for pretty much everything but since she's so far it's kind of a pain)

Go to Tri County Flea Market in Levittown, they are really cheap there, and they do nice work at some of the booths. If you shop around there, there are a few booths that sell them, and you can bargain with prices. They are competing fiercely. Good luck!

What town do you live in?

Re: rushed wedding help!!!! please!!!

You might want to see if you can get your BM dresses at a store such as Macys's - so you can get them all at once, instead of having to put in a rush order!! Don't worry, you will get everything done in time, it has been done before and we will be here to help you!

Jen

PS I am a CH bride also!

Re: rushed wedding help!!!! please!!!

I knew a girl who picked a dress out of a chadwick's catalog for her BP which was all out of town

I got my veil and headpiece at tri-county

You usually send invites out 2 months prior, so that you have time to follow up with people who don't respond. If you order them soon, you should be able to get a rush delivery in time.

Hope that helps!

Re: rushed wedding help!!!! please!!!

I live in East Rockaway.

I didnt' even think of Tri-County and I grew up in Levittown! That's a great idea.

I think I'm going to make my own flower girl basket and ring bearer pillow it will give me something to keep my occupied, (Did anyone else try that?) It's going to be pretty casual so I can't do that bad of a job.

Re: rushed wedding help!!!! please!!!

I did this for my Stepmother's wedding, she had all the bridesmaids pick out any dress they wanted but it had to be a specific color. Maybe you could pick a color and just let all your BM's pick out their own dress in that color. It really looked good for my stepmothers's wedding, all the girls wore black but in different dresses and they had the same flowers. Just a suggestion.

Good Luck!!!

futuremrs have you been happy with the service at CH? It was the first place we went and I fell in love with it, everything matches our colors. I think they've been really good so far but I haven't heard much from anyone else about them.

Hey there,
Lorimari was sort of on track. I got my veil and tiara at S&S bridal (a booth at Tri-County). I got both pieces for $140. Jennbaby got hers form C&H in Manhattan. Good luck!!!!!

Re: rushed wedding help!!!! please!!!

My wedding date is Oct 5th and have just about the same amount of things to do!! What has helped me is concentating on one thing at a time. Start with the things that have a time-limit involved, such as dresses & invitations. I dedicated a Sat & Sun just to look for my Mothers dress, and accomplished it. This weekend I dedicated to my BP dresses, and with luck they found a dress in one day. They purchased it at The Wedding Plaza in Baldwin, it's on the corner of Grand Ave w/ Merrick. The Style they purchase was very resonable $150. They carry a line by Angelo_?__ and he make separates, so if all the girls select the same skirt, they can choose the same top or different style. If you find a style or designer you like, try to find one where your girls out of state can go to their local stores and try the dress on for fit . Across the street is also Lillietts Bridal Store, where you can also look. You might try Blanchee in Far Rockaway on Main Street - I hear it's good. Hope this helps.

Re: rushed wedding help!!!! please!!!

Try RK Bridal for the BM dresses. Service isn't always excellent, but they have a great 'no frills' plan for the out of state bridesmaids who need to have alterations done where they are. Get the rush service on the dresses, they'll still be cheaper than retail.

For veils, see if RK has those, I'm not sure. Also, someone online knows of someone who makes them. If you're interested let me know. What about Kleinfelds for a veil too? They run about $100-200 there I think, but am not sure.

Also, www.renaissancewritings.com for invites, they are extremely, extremely fast (I had my invites in under a week). They do programs, menus, guest books, etc. as well. You could have your invites really quickly, so you could get them out by the end of May.

good luck, I'm doing it all in 7 months, so don't worry-and I did it all regular, no rushing. So, with rushing you'll be ok. Try to find inexpensive ways to have others do things for you, such as inkspun for addressing the invitations (39 cents an envelope). One bit of advice, if you're rushed-try not to saddle yourself with making things, just spend a little extra if you can an order everything. Or, maybe your mom could help by making a few things?

Good luck, you'll be find and you'll have a wonderful day!

Re: rushed wedding help!!!! please!!!

Tri county is good for veils but they're only open on certain days (I think thursday through Sunday???). Check the forums.

For any paper products, tulle, or ribbons I used papermart.com - they're very inexpensive and deliver usually less than a week. For the pillow I ordered from party poofers.com, and for the headpieces I used Headpiece heaven for my flowergirl and Affordable Bride for my comb/tiara (both on the internet - had it in less than a week). As for shoes there is a bridal shoe store right on Old Country road across from Thomasville furniture (before DSW) - they have wide width and every size right there and reasonable prices.

Tri county also has moneybags, pillows, and even great wedding bands in the jewlery section upstairs ( the good ones to go to you can search here in the forums).

As I think of more things or places, I'll let you know.

Re: rushed wedding help!!!! please!!!

For the veil and headpiece you can try Paul's Veil in NYC at 28 W38th Street. He made mine in under 3 weeks and did a great job at a reasonable price.

BM dresses were bought at Bloomingdales; Jr. Bridesmaid dresses at Lord and Taylor. It is prom season so there are a lot out there and really good sales. We found the Flowergirl dress at Century 21.

Good luck with your planning.
