Russo's

As of right now, me and FH have it narrowed down to Russo's on the Bay and VIP Country Club. I like Russo's better and i told a few co-workers about it and they all told me it was like a wedding factory and gaudy decor... anyone have any opinions on this or have been told negative things about it? Please be honest, def wont take offense...... thanks in advance girls!

i come from an italian family so i've been to A LOT of events at Russos... the service and the food is excellent. i didn't book my wedding there because there have been so many family parties there so i wanted someplace different. I think its cool because they have 'grand entrances' in 2 of their rooms (glass elevator, stairs)

IMO I feel like it is very gaudy (but that is my taste) I also do not like that it is right on a major road

My FH LOVE LOVE LOVES Russos. I have never been there. But, he said that he would have loved to have our wedding there. Just can't afford the price tag. The food is supposed to be excellent.

never been...but IMO the main thing that matters is the food/service. As long as that is good and YOU and FH like the decor...thats all the matters. Not everyone has the same taste...so go with the halls that you feel fit best with your and fh's style...

ita - the decor isn't our style so that's why we booked another rh, but I have never been disappointed with their food or service when we go.

well so at least everyone agrees that food and service is really good and i'd rather know that we got our $'s worth

let me know if you end up going there!!

Re: Russo's

Russos was my second pic right after Leonards. i would have booked them if i could havw afforded a non-winter wedding there.
they are pricey but they throw a great wedding, with a lottt of food, you get a lot for your $$
i dont think the decor is gaudy at all, i think leonards is alittle more gaudy with all the chandeliers.....i guess since they do a lot of events then people call it a wedding factory, but i think youll have a great wedding if you do it there, they give a lot for their price

You have to do what is best for you. Everyone has different tastes...which is why there are so many RHs out there. As long as the food and service is good...and you have good music...you cant go wrong. Good luck with your decision!

Sorry to crash....I think that ALL catering halls are wedding factories,,,,hello they do weddings every weekend!

If YOU like the decor then thats what matters. I have always heard wonderful things about their food...I personally think its rude that this person told you this 'gaudy' is a matter of opinion...I personally love 'gaudy' ...good luck picking your hall

Re: Russo's

I guess it is all a matter of opinion. Some say gaudy but for real authentic Italians it does not get much better than this!! I would have booked my wedding there because the food is amazing! Almost as good as my moms lol but my cousin got married there so I decided against it. Villa Lombardis is another Italian god send but it was to far for many guests who are coming from Staten island.

Honestly, who cares what they say. If you loved it then go for it. We had such a great time at my cousins wedding and again the food is simply amazing!

I love Russ's the service and food is outstanding. They really cater to you for your day. Like the other girl said 'gaudy' is really a matter on whose opinion it's from. It is on the pricy side though.

I agree that russos is a wedding factory especially since a lot of halls are selling the one to two weddings at a time. Russos at any one time I think can have 4 or 5 different weddings going on. So you def will see another bride there with you. When they renovated the hall they designed it to get the most bang for their buck so there are a lot of rooms for parties there. Now I am italian and the decor is a little much for me ( and most of my families have marble all over there houses lol) Lots of gold and marble that just screams, Im not sure what it is but I personally feel that it is loud. But you need to go look at it cuz you might love it. Now again this is just my opinion I think the food there is OK not bad but not amazing. The last party I went to there had a interesting menu choices but I didnt love the food. The service is good because they are very strict with their staff ( I had a few friends work there over the years) and they take care of the staff so they take care of the guests. Also just keep in mind where people are coming from because howard beach can be a pain to get to...the belt parkway stinks and crossbay blvd can be just as bad and other then that there really isnt any other easy way to get there

Re: Russo's

I have been to numerous affairs at both. Here's what I thought:
In terms of food, Russo's hands down. VIP has excellent food as well, I just found Russo's to be a little bit better. And in terms of decor, they are both pretty. VIP is a little more subdued, but I wouldn't call Russo's Gaudy! And don't let anyone steer you away from your choices. Go with what you like.
