I have a 'friends' wedding next month across country. I will be unable to attend, but want to send a gift. What would be the proper etiquette to send gift. I am supposed to RVSP by next week. Should I send gift and RSVP together? seperate? card? no card? Thanks.

Send RSVP and then send a gift separately. IF the gift is money, enclose it in a card.

I'd send the RSVP card stating you are not attending along with a check for your gift. I had received a few regrets and everyone had done it this way. This made it so much easier for me because I was able to keep track of who's not coming and I will write the 'Thank You' card right away. It will save your friend some time and I found it when I received it that it was a nice special thoughtful touch by those who sent it.

I would agree with this,
THough i received 2 of these 'Regret with a check' resonses, and my first reaction was 'Oh wow! LOL they couldn't get a card?'. But I didn't know anything about 'traditional' American wedding stuff really, so it seemed odd to me (not that I was ungreatful!)
I would get a wedding card and mail it the same time as the resonce....so they should arrive at the same time. Than it's extra thoughtful...unless you don't want to be extra thoughtful...it all depends on your MO.

If its a very close friend, I would call and tell you you can't make it before you dend the response, then you can send her a gift.

Of our regrets, no one sent gifts untill the wedding or right after ( mostly we got them when we returned from our HM)

Well, etiquette says that if you are not attending, you do not have to send a gift.
I think it's great that you want to anyway. But, I would buy a wedding card and put the gift inside.
