i'm not sure about anyone else but i hate this time of month....just thinking about 9/11. a very close family friend who was on the nypd force died that day...and i just get the butterflies everytime. just knowing the dates coming up sits in my head. its like i just cant except the fact that it happened and that they are in a better place now. who knew that after 4 years it could still be so hard.....does anyone else feel the way i do
sorry for the vent.

They played TAPS over the loud speaker today at school and I was about to start bawling. Its bad enough 9-11 is hard for me but with having been to a military funeral, it was very hard.

Re: sad
Fox 5 news at 10pm has had 9/11 stories all week. I brawled last night when they were talking about the new plans for the freedom tower and how the construction workers are re-building ground zero from there hearts. They were showing the new plans for the building and how the lost would be memorialized. If you look down from the top story of the freedom tower, you can actually see the footprints of where towers 1 & 2 once stood. Its going to be an amazing memorial on what is now such a sacred area. So sad. Tears were pouring out of my eyes. My FI looked at me and just hugged me. 4 years later, and its still so painful.
God bless America.

It is very sad, I think it affected us all in one way or another. I will observe 9-11 and be proud to be an American.

It's so sad, that was such a horrific day!!!!! There's still so much that I can remember as if it was yesterday, 4 years later, there are images that I know will be burned in my memory forever.
I'm about to cry right now. I was going to college on Staten Island when it happened. I had a clear view from across the bay of everything including the black sky that loomed overhead.
It was horrible. Certainly put things into perspective tho. Let your loved ones know how you feel.
Remeber Sunday is Patriot Day. Wear your Red, White, & Blue and show how proud you are to be an American!!!

Re: sad
Since the first anniversary, my family and I have tried to just get through the day. This year is the first year that I hadn't dwelled on when the 11th was coming up... I got lost in the shuffle of back to school stuff.
Today I am in the middle of teaching and the principal interrupts with an announcement and calls for a moment of silence at 9:11 am...Well, that was it for me.
It can be out of no where that I think of my uncle (and the numerous amounts of extended family..) To this day it is difficult, especially around holidays and special milestones. My uncle has missed so much in the last four years, between my sisters and myself. He never had children of his own, so my cousins and my sisters were 'his' girls. What I can say is that we continue to do things that he set in motion years earlier... his traditions are what will keep us close to him and to eachother.
Now I've done it... gotta hit the kleenex (again)....

I'm sad too. As beautiful as the weather has been it has been similar to that horrible day. I have been feeling it too. FH lost his cousin and I knew a few firemen from my neighborhood that past. My heart and prayers goes out to all of their familes during this difficult time!!!

Someone on my mothers side died on 9/11...Unfortunetely his body was never recovered He was supposed to get married that November....It just makes me so sad to think about a life cut so short and so many lives cut short.
I just remember that day like it was yesterday...I remember what the weather was like and exactly where I was when I heard...What a horrible day for the United States

It's a horrible time of year for us at work. I am a nyc police officer and I still can't believe that the police officer, fdny and many everyday people tried so hard to save people they may not have even known and lost there lives doing what was only what there gut told them to do. So never forget and remember how amazing these people were. My love and support to the girls that lose someone due to this horrible act.

Re: sad
It's a time like this where friends and family really offer comfort to those who are survivors, like myself, and mourning the loss of family and friends.
It's also a time to reflect on everything we have. Reflecting on what we could be missing and how we should wake up each day knowing how wonderful it is to see the sun shine down.
It's a tough time for many, fortunately, we are not alone.
God Bless America and those who perished four sad years ago and to each one of us who are here today.

It has changed my life forever!!! You guys really said it all! On Sept 24th there is a movie on the discovery channel. It is based on the plane that hit the pentagon. I can't wait to watch it!
The sad thing, and the disgusting thing about it is, it is going to happen again. It's only a matter of time. It's true. It's not over. Maybe not in our life time, but in our kids, or our kids's kids. WHY????????
There is so much stuff that we don't know, b/c if we did and the gov't put us on to it, we'd live everyday in paranoia!!!!

Even if we personally didn't know anyone (which I knew quite a few) it still effects us. We are AMERICANS and these are our people, not to mention it happened in our home!!! It really makes me so angry!!! That is why I can't get into it, b/c Not only do I cry, but I wanna punch a wall!!!

Re: sad
Really tough. FH saw so much and was in the middle of it for so long that day. When the first plane hit, his subway halted and he was stuck for a while. I can't remember where he was when the second one hit. He went up to his office and everyone left a few minutes later. He and another guy went back up for some computer equipment (he regrets that). He was in a dust cloud when buildings fell. He helped some lady who was all bloody. He is diabetic and had to worry about where his insulin was and getting low sugar. He walked to his cousins apartment in midtown. Later in the day, he helped some girl who drowned her sorrow in alchool and walked out of a bar and did not know where she was. He only tells me the story in bits and pieces. He now has a bag packed at his office at all times--running shoes, extra insulin, sugar packets and some other stuff. He is so sad at this time of year!!!!!

4 years really have passed. This is a horrible tragedy that has affected us all as New Yorkers and Americans. I am going to be volunteering at Ground Zero (alond with FH) on 9/11 from 5 AM until 5 PM offering mental health support to the families. It's the least I can do to help them.
