im so worried about my FH on the day we get married he lost his mom 2 yrs ago to cancer, and now his father just died 2 months ago, it breaks my heart to know what kind of emotions he will be having at the wedding . and i hate the fact that i will have no inlaws i just hope he will be ok, it was even so sad when we had to pick the photographer, telling them we only needed 1 parent album and now i dont know what to do about the father/daughter dance, should i even do one?? i would feel bad if i did. i miss them so much, and i know his heart aches sorry girls, i guess i needed some comfort, thanks!!

i know exactly how u feel... my FH lost his mom 4 yrs ago to cancer also .. plus his dad and godfather died a few yrs before that.. and now our best friend (who would have been his best man and whos sister is my MOH) was killed 2 yrs ago so we have alot of sad emotionas at our wedding..... i asked FH what he wanted to do about the dances and he said i had to dance with my father !!! and then i suggested he dance with his grandmother or sisters.. so he wants to dance with his sisters to a song like one sweet day with mariah carey

Re: SAD
just remember this sweety...
YOU are his family now... YOU are his future... and he's marrying YOU that day... It may be uber emotional but remember how much joy he has inside that he has YOU...

Re: SAD
i lost my dad 4 years ago, so i can understand his emotions. My FH said that if we didnt want to do the father/daughter - son/mom dances that he would understand! I wasnt hearing it! I am using the oppertunity to put together a photo/video montage of my dad i want to keep it light, happy etc. We will put music to it ...
Maybe your FH can do something similar to honor his parents? We also plan to pass candles to everyone at the reception (if they choose to take one) to light in honor of those whom they have lost. It will be a moment for everyone to reflect and to remember those who they have lost, but to remember them in a special way!

I am not being insensitive to your fiance's feelings. But what about your dad's feelings? I am sure he has waited for this moment since the day you were born. I don't think you should skip the dance. Maybe he can dance with another special lady? Or maybe even your mom? That might be cute.

I'm sorry.. i know it is hard... DH didnt have his father at our wedding and I know it hurts like helll Just know that they're there in spirit.
For the dances- maybe he could dance with a close relative instead?

Re: SAD
so sad......
if it were me, I'd ask him whether or not he wanted to do the dances at all..... or drop the idea completely........ a minor concession on your part could save him tons of grief at the reception....
we didn't do any parent dances...... pretty much for the same reason....... no guest even realized it.
