sorry i have no sympathy for you teachers, i've been back at work already and have to work all summer! i think i should make a career change....
oh and we NEED the breaks, or else we'd be in mental institutions by now from going absolutely insane
Everyone thinks we're lucky to have all these breaks and summer breaks....but the thing is: WE NEED THEM! Plus, most people who arent teachers can pretty much pick any time they want to get a vacation. Our vacations are basically picked for us already.

that being said... 90% of vacations taken are during the summer months (when teachers are off)... plus... we need to take a week off of work. i dont know about you guys... but when i leave work for a week, i come back to hell becasue no one can do my job.
i'm not understanding what you mean by 'you need the breaks'. can you elaborate? does that mean that people that DONT deal with kids DONT need breaks???

No no no...everyone needs breaks. No one can work constantly. Teaching is just so draining (dont get me wrong- I LOVE LOVE LOVE it). But its more than just teaching.
I have to do testing, write I.E.Ps, mentor children, deal with teenage drug abuse, teenage pregnancy, emotional problems, contact parents. I get cursed at on a daily basis. In addition, I create all of my own handouts that are on my students' level (I have limited resources and I teach special ed. so what I do have is difficult for my students to understand). And that's all besides the actual teaching I do.
I definatly think there are a ton of workers out there that work 10 times harder than teachers do, that don't recieve the recognition or the breaks they deserve. But I do think teachers need the breaks we get!

I agree, the only thing I hate about my job, is that we don't get to enjoy the holidays as much as other people. Other than that its fine...
