Sad

So - 24 hours after we got engaged, my FH got laid off from his job that hes been at for 5 years! I hate to sound so selfish, because I am obviously worried about our financial responsibilities and everything that will probably have to go on hold bc of him not having a job - but all I keep thinking is 'why did this have to happen NOW!' We canceled all of our plans to celebrate our engagement with family and friends for now and are just focusing on getting him a job again!! I hate how we went from completely the happiest people in the world, to not knowing what the heck is happening next !!! AND I HATE that this is how we are going to rememeber our engagement !!!

I'm soo sorry. Don't let your engagement be a bad memory. Just look at it as a new beginning. Hope he gets a new job soon. Then it will be a new step in his career and with the two of you. Good luck.

I'm sorry. You will get it all straightened out and I hope he finds something soon. In the end, this might bring you closer to one another. It's a hard time and I'm sure he appreciates your support.

I'm sorry to hear that, but don't let it stop you from celebrating your engagement. My FH was laid off of work a month BEFORE he proposed......Apparently, he went with my mom to look at rings the day after he was laid off! I never expected him to propose while he was jobless. But he knew that the job thing was temporary. He finally found one about 4 months later.

Remember, he will find another job. It may take time, but it will happen. But your proposal and your love for each other will last forever!

It took 3 weeks after our engagement for my FH to get laid off... he just got his job back this week...

is he at least able to get unemployement... every little bit helps.

You will remember how you were able to get past the bad luck of FH getting laid off...

You have a part in how you want to remember your engagement. Don't let it ruin it. My FH was laid off 1 week before he popped the question. We still celebrated and enjoyed the moment. We scaled down on some stuff. But it should not ruin it.
