i don't know if this makes me weird but i haven't had a best friend in likea long time. since HS. my HS BF and i grew apart after college and i guess it natural that these things happen. i've had friends, but no one really close that i could talk to or anything like that.
last year, a girl started working at my job, I'll call her K and she is amazing! we became instant friends and talk all the time and hang out outside of work. i tell her things that i don't tell anyone else (besides FH). K's mom is suffering from pancreatic cancer and is at stage 4. she just recently found out that she is in liver failure and doesn't have much longer to live. she just let me know today that she gave her 2 weeks notice so she could spend more time with her mom before she passes away.
i feel like i'm losing my BF and i sure as hell don't want to train someone new at work! i'm so sad and we have been crying all morning. I know we say we will keep in touch but, she doesn't live in NY and i hope that we do. i know we can alwsy talk on the phone or FB, but i hope we actually do see each other from time to time too.
sorry this was so long. just wanted to get it off my chest.

Dont worry you have US...... xoxoxoxox But yeah, its really tough when you loose friends and friends just grow apart or life takes you to a different direction. And its ok to feel sad about loosing her, but at least you know it really is for a good reason.

I'm so sorry. It really is a terrible thing to go through for both of you. I would make an effort to call her though because with everything going on with her mom she may not have time to pick up the phone as much as she would like. And when this hard time is over for her she will remember that you were there for her through it all.

that IS sad.... even though she is leaving your job im sure that you will still be friends. Im sure she values your friendship as mucha s you do! Long distance friendships can be tough but with some effort it can be done... my sister moved to Florida 2 years ago and she and her BFF are still super close and visit each other ALL the time!!! chin up... you have US!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Omg I'm so sorry. That's so sad. your poor friend must be going through so much right now. My prayers are with her and her family. I wouldn't be too considered about losing her. Just because you guys aren't going to be working together doesn't mean you are going to drift apart.

thanks ladies. i will definately be calling her, especially now with her mom being so sick. i'm just really really sad. this was the first thingshe told me this morning and she wasn't even done telling me when we were both ablling and hugging each other. i'm losing a friend, and then work is going to **** for a long time until a new girl can be found and trained

I'm so sorry, it makes me so sad when things have to end on such horrible terms. Standby her and be strong for her, that's what she really needs right now!!! I'm sure this is not what she wants, but it is what she has to do. I am certain that the friendship you both have will always be. Keep your head up.

i asked her about a leave of absence but i don't think she is thinking clearly right now. she also wants to go back to school in the fall so i guess she just figures she will find something part time between now and when her mom passes away and through school.
