Sad Ranting Vent! -- Just took a BIG step Backwards!
Ok it's like 2am here in NYC and I'm still up why?? B/c I thought our venue search was over but NOOOOOOOO. . .
I don't know if my vision is so crazy or if I'm just not thinking outside the box enough or what -- but my original venue has fallen through and I'm feeling a bit down. Because (1) they were perfectly located for my vision (2) They had pretty good deals as far as price and (3) My FH was actually excited about this venue and jumped to go make an appointment to go see it! They weren't 'typical' cause we're not exactly ballroom venue type folks! It's a rooftop with tenting options of a hotel in LIC. (No offense to anyone else --- my cousin is at JT and I LOVE HER!!! It's just not me.)
So here's the deal b/c of religion my wedding will be on Sunday. So I figured hey I want fireworks -- My FH LOVES LOVES the Fireworks but I don't have the 4 grand+ to pay for them so I say just have it on the one Sunday of the year that you get fireworks! Hence 7/4/2010
The venue has only been open for about a 8 months but the owner now believes that by 2010 he'll be doing a huge party which he will not want to give up for my rooftop reception. . .. so he has canceled on us!!!!!!! We were so thrilled meeting with everyone and making plans and now it's like Ha! Ha! jokes on u!
Suggestions anyone?? 150 guests, Able to view the fireworks, New York feel (doesn't have to be urban or modern) just not a ballroom, Views of the skyline are also an excellent plus. Any borough -- we will travel LOL. Just want it to feel like the wedding couldn't have been anywhere else BUT NYC.
Awww if u made it through my entire post. . .Thanks for listening - My FH said his brain hurts.

Check out the Foundry in LIC. http://www.thefoundry.info/images.html It's really cool and totally different, I was set on having my wedding here but our wedding is too big, we would have had to have seating outside in a tent and then inside dancing, too expensive in the end... but I really loved it!

he's an ***.
but.....there are two venues in jersey city i liked.....the Hyatt and Liberty House. they were a bit pricey because you get the manhattan view....im not sure if you get fireworks on the Hudson river but you can always ask them.
p.s. they are in downtown jersey city, which is a REALLY awesome area...i know cuz i live there lol.

jmo - this guy is probably going to make way more money on 4th of July with a huge party then your wedding so I really can't blame him, its a money industry......but if I were you and you LOVED that rh, then I would change the date, I know you want the fireworks, but I think its worth the sacfrice if you found your dream hall.
Also, lots of places have fireworks during the month of July.....my eparty was July12th and there just so happened to be a huge firework show that night.

Try the Hudson Terrace. They were my 1st choice but the older people in my family didnt like the loft idea.
They are a vendor on here. Its GORGEOUS!

Sorry you had such a bad experience. I reccomend:
Pier Sixty and The Lighthouse at Chelsea Piers (catered by Abigail Kirsch)
Studio 7
621 Loft and Garden
The Weather Room at Top of the Rock
The Bowery Hotel
The Glass House
Stage 6
What is your budget for the space rental and pp?

Thank you ladies for the AMAZING suggestions and the hugs.
I was so sad, we had signed some of the stuff we needed to sign but not all of it and so we weren't in contract -- but It's like you get all in in your mind and then NOPE!!
It was totally a $$ thing for the owner and I get his point of view 100% I'm just that it reverses our plans. .
But I'm feeling better -- it was just like when u get the venue u feel like everything else is clicking!
I have a lot of family coming from out of town and even out of country, so a holiday weekend is quite helpful, for them.
I have the HUGEST family so we have already cut down a LOT of folks made an A/B list and we're down to 150 hoping to get it down to 125. So that we won't go over our budget which @ that #r we're hoping to stay at 30K (we want to spend less but I don't know if that is happening.) I'm still soooo new at this. (At least for myself!)

You sound alot like me when i began looking for a RH. I definetly recommend Terrace on the Park as other people have suggested. They do have a slight ballroom feel which is not what i wanted either but the views are incredible and it has a wrap around terrace. I am talking about the penthouse though. Plus they are pretty good on price. You will have views of nyc the worlds fair globe and shea stadium (but its being knoekced down).
Dont Fret you will find the right place for you. Also they are a little more pricey but i absolutely loooved Waters edge.
