so, I invited 256 people and guaranteed 200. About 50 people haven't responded and today was the deadline. In addition to that, I posted earlier the problem I had with not inviting my Aunt and a lot of my family is not coming. I am only at 146 yes. Need some hugs....

Seriously, I guaranteed 100; 146 were invited and only 88 came - then there were a few no-shows and you know what... it was the best wedding ever (and mind you my reception room is huge). Do NOT stress numbers. Your party will rock regardless. I was freaking out at our deadline when I had less than 80. A few stragglers came in the mail in the days that followed. It really is not the numbers that make or break... I know no one paid any attention to the fact there were less than 100 at our wedding, almost everyone there told me how incredible our wedding was.

What happens when you dont make your min? If you guarantee say 150 and only get 100, you'd have to pay for those 50 that arent there right?

My hall threw in a chocolate fondue station for desert (I had to pay for the 100 I guaranteed so they tossed in an extra). I'm so glad I didn't make my minimum!!!!!!

Depends on the place... but if this happens, NEGIOTITATE! so you have a lot less people there but they're still holding you to the same price per head then have them thrown in extras. i've heard of girls getting extra entree choices, a viennese bar thrown in, signature drinks, ice sculptures, etc. but make sure they do SOMETHING for you... you're more than paying for it if you don't meet the minimum,

I am not sure what will happen with my RH. I am meeting with them on Wed, I guess I will find out then. My only point is they wanted 200 for the room. Okay fine, I thought I would have that. I am paying the most $$$$ a bride could pay. I included everything. I can't see them demanding that kind of money for so many people that didn't come.
If I paid the least amount per person and guaranteed 200 I would still be paying a lot less.
So, my point is they wanted 200 people for the room. If I paid for the basic plus a couple of extras they would still be making alot less.
Versus me who is paying the most they charge for only 150 - 175. They are still making out like bandits on me with only 175.
Besides, how do they want you to guarantee a number over a year in advance, that alone sounds crazy, I must have been crazy.

When we called our hall to put in the final count we gave them the number of 165. Three people who responded yes never showed so they gave us 3 dinners to take home with us. Is there anyone else you can invite last minute?
That stinks you should definitely try to make a deal( maybe pay for half of the missed minimum) most likely you are going to have to pay for your minimum maybe they can give you something extra. Good Luck.
