Soo.. originally I was plannng to buy a Demetrios gown and spend more than I have for a sparkly dream gown. I had it in my head I was going to spend $3000 on a dress, Then by a weird turn of events I won ANY gown at David's. I went and decided to find a dress I liked, but would probably sell. Once I tried on this gown I really liked it, but I am questioning whether I am going to regret not looking further. My gown is a size 18 and I'm pretty curvy, so I think the shape does suit me. I had imagined a really bling-y dress, but I think this does sparkle. Maybe I'm just held back by the lower price tag (It's actually not a cheap dress at all.. it was $1200) What do you think?
PLEASE DON'T QUOTE THE PIC I AM TAKING IT DOWN
Thanks PS- The gown is Ivory, but mine is white (you can see the white hanging up next to me). This one is also a size smaller than mine, but you get the idea.
Bottom one (with the head) is me, the others are not me, just to show the dress..
edited: deleted pic of me in the dress (lurkers)

I think the dress is beautiful. I'll be honest; of course if you kept looking you'll find another dress for $3K that will top it; but i think it fits you great; and you'll look gorgeous on your wedding day wearing it! Maybe take the $3k you were gong to spend and splurge on something else since the dress is already taken care of.

Thank you. Yeah you can always spend more.. Which is why I'm afraid to even look. I mean how do you compare a $3000 dress and a free one?
Plus we really don't know how we're affording this wedding at all as it is, so I know the better thing to do is keep this dress. I thought I could sell it, but I tried to sell my gown certificate and had such a hard time, I don't know if I'd be able to sell it.

A friend of mine wore this exact dress at her wedding a couple months ago. EVERYONE that was at the ceremony commented on how gorgeous it was and how much it sparkled in the sunlight. You could hear people whispering as she came down the aisle 'Wow. Look at that dress. It's gorgeous!'
It's actually the dress that inspired my dress choice as well. I love the organza overlay!
When I spoke to her I couldn't believe that she got it at David's and that's why ended up looking there first for my dress.
I say definitely keep it!

YAY!
I haven't seen it in the sunlight! Is it really sparkly? That's my main reservation. I'm not an over-the-top bling kind of girl, but I do want to be sparkly and I wanted to be a princess/

YES! It is incredibly sparkly in the sunlight! I even whispered to FH that I want my dress to sparkle like that! lol I didn't get a chance to see the dress too much up close, but the little crystal sparkle things under the overlay really pop when the light hits them!
Her exact words were, 'I really found my princess dress!'

I think you look beautiful.
and although it is not a $3000 dress, it's one of the most expensive dresses at David's Bridal.
I personally think the dress is gorgeous - and if you do keep looking - you could always sell it later, or even do 1 for ceremony and 1 for reception (I think that's what I'm doing).
I have my 1 dress (also an oleg) and I'm the hunt for another lol

Looks like a GORGEOUS dress to me!!! And why spend $3k if you can get that same super sparkly gorgeous princess feeling for less (and it appears that you have done just that). So I say if you love the dress hang on to it and use the rest of the money for something else (down payment on a house, flowers, honeymoon upgrade, lifetime supply of duct tape...).
Long story short, excellent choice!

Re: Said Yes to the dress? Opinions please
Thank you! I feel so much better.
I'm funny, my MOH, my mom and my sister were all like 'you are NOT getting your gown at David's' but then when my actual dress came in and they saw it on me, they all said I should keep it. My mom keep confusing me and telling me to go to kleinfeld. I think she feels bad I'm missing that 'experience' and that she can't buy my gown the way she bought my sister's gown at Kleinfeld. It's a VERY different financial situation now though, and it's not even like it's $3K more for flowers, it's $3K less I'll have to beg, borrow and steal at this point.
