Sail Harbor
Anyone ever heard or been to this place in Bayville?

Re: Sail Harbor
Yep - I've never been to a wedding there, but went to check it out for myself. I didn't like that you had to look over the parking lot before seeing the water, and didn't like the overall look of the place, so we left before meeting with the catering mgr.

Re: Sail Harbor
thanks maybe I won't even take the drive. Parking lot view is not exactly what I had in mind!

Re: Sail Harbor
It's disappointing, because it's a nice location, but you don't get to enjoy being near the water! You just look out through the glass windows and see the water, but there's no beach access or anything. There's a gazebo to get married under but you'd have your guests walking though the parking lot.

Re: Sail Harbor
I went also to check it out. The pictures of it looked gorgeous, but we HATED the place (very sorry if anyone is getting married there.) It was just not 'nice'. Too much to type. Plus, the guy was SO rude. He took a personal call while we were there in his office and got into a fight with what we assumed was his girlfriend right in front of us. I mean, can't you tell her you'll call back or something.

Re: Sail Harbor
We couldn't belive we wasted our time going there. I called an made an appointment 1 week in advance, when we got there it looked closed down. We walked in a there was a waitress there setting up for a bridal shower. She didn't know we had an appt. Then she rushed us around, sat us in the office, handed us the menu and asked if we had any questions. Duh??!! We asked how much, she said to call back tomorrow and talk to the manager. I was so angry. We took off early from work to go there and the manager didn't even show. Then she tried to make it seem like we had missed our appt. I wasn't a bad place, I didn't like that the windows faced the parking lot. Otherwise it was nice.

Re: Sail Harbor
I too, was disappointed in the view at Sail Harbor. If you chose this location for your wedding, you'd want your ceremony held in a church or elsewhere, and your pictures would have to be arranged off premises. There really is nothing scenic about overlooking a parking lot. However, I didn't think the interior decor was bad at all. In fact, when the room is all put together with flowers, tablecloths, etc. it is quite lovely. The only think I would have changed was the chandeliers (I don't like crystal - ewww!)
I really liked the fact that the entire place belongs to your event - that's a nice thing.
Also, the cocktail room was nice with the baby grand piano in the center, and enough seating for all your guests.
The ballroom has a carpeted area at the back near the windows where guests can sit, relax, lounge without being too far away from the action on the dance floor.

Re: Sail Harbor
We looked there, because the pics were so pretty. I have to tell you, my vibe was that of an unprofessional manor. They gave us cheap photocopies of the 'limited menu', the parkinglot view was not appealing, and I thought it smelled like smoke. Plus they quoted me the same price as the Crescent Beach Club, which I found to be MUCH NICER!

Re: Sail Harbor
when we went there, we thought there was no one inside! we 'let ourselves in' to walk around and finally bumped into a lady. We told her we were looking at the place for a wedding. Not only was it TOO small but like the other ladies said about the parking lot.Anyway she then took us into an office, gave us menus and told us to call back in a few days for prices??!?!??!
We were like 'yeah ok'.

Re: Sail Harbor
We looked there too, but we thought it was too small for us. I didn't notice the parking lot until we actually walked up to the window in the ballroom and looked down. One good thing about it is that the people that own it also own the Carltun. From what I understand, the menu is pretty much the same and so is the service.Welcome New Vendors
