It is such a beautiful place! A friend of mine went to a wedding there and loved it. However she said it was weird because it is not closed to the public and tourists during a wedding. So she said there were some random people who were going in and out. But she said it was beautiful regardless.

That is beautiful! Because it is a huge tourist spot, however, it is not closed off to tourists. So, you will have people come in and out and peek and stuff. There can also be a wait to get married there. As for parking--it's across from Rockefeller. If you are lucky, you MAY find street parking but you will most likely have to park your car in a garage.

I heard that you have to book wayyyyyy in advance for a wedding there, but that could just be a rumor.

Are you referring to St. Patrick's Old Cathedral on Mulberry St in downtown Manhattan or St. Patrick's Cathedral in midtown? They are two different churches.

I would kill to have my wedding there. This church is so powerful...and magical. Do not worry about little details. Go for it!

When I was there like 3 years ago they said the waiting list was like 5 years long!! So actually if we had put our names down then we actually would have been able to get married there! Oh well, who knew?

Re: Saint Patricks Old Cathedral in Manhattan?

My friend got married there last June. I was in the wedding party. it was amazing. we had to walk down such a long aisle. But all the tourists were wondering who the celebrity was that was getting married. it was funny. we took a 30 person party bus from long island. so we didn't have to pay for parking. the guests just parked wherever they could. she didn't suggest one place or the other. we took pictures across the street. not sure what the name of the place was, but its with the man holding the world on his shoulders. then after that we took more pictures at central park. and then the reception was at 'Tavern on the Green'. yeah her wedding was amazing to say the least. sorry i am going on, but the church was so pretty. the pews are small. we only fit 4 girls per row. we could understand the priest. and we did a full mass. however..... if you don't get married exactly the time you are supposed too, they put you off to a side alter, and you are only allowed 2 witnesses. so make sure you start on time. they have to do this because they pack in the weddings every hour, so they can't fall behind in the schedule. good luck
