so i've started looking at photos and dj's and all the price quotes I get are just numbers and they don't say plus tax....so when it comes to the dj or the photographer do they charge sales tax when you go to sit down???
just trying to crunch numbers and wanted to see where they fall

DJ = no sales tax b/c it's a service
Photographer = tax b/c it's a service + goods (the photos or proofs)
ETA - there is no tax on limos either.

My photog contract states plus tax, so it is additional. Not sure about the video Florist gave me a quote, sales tax is additional. DJ is flat rate. RH is most definitely plus sales tax. ( I computed the whole thing out, plate, gratuity and tax to come up with the pp cost - it adds up quickly)

Thanks I was wondering about that as well since the last DJ we went to said the same thing about services and I didn't know about the photographer.

Double check - is it gratuity or sales tax?

Same theory as I posted above.
Video gives you a finished product (the video or video footage). The band does not. So there is only sales tax on the video.

Ohh that's good to know! I've been figuring the DJ quote + sales tax & I've been preparing to do the same with the limo (when I finally book one). My budget is happy now

BTW - My photo guy agreed to charge me no tax if i paid in cash. that's saving me about $200
