I'm from Queens and will be getting ready at my parents house in Queens.
Are there any salons in Queens (preferably Kew Gardens, Forest Hills, Woodhaven, Woodside or Sunnyside) that anyone would recommend?
I don't know if I'll go to the salon or have my hair done at a salon but I'd like to explore both options.
Thanks for the help

Well depending what time you have to be ready by, many dont open real early but you can always ask and many times they will open up early for you
try christie's & co in bayside, not far from forest hills. THeres also spectrym in forest hills and giorgios in kew gardens.

Thank you.
I've been to Spectrym just got my hair cut there. IT was my second time going and this time the service was truly lacking. Not sure if I'll go back...but I'll check out the other places

I've gone to Christies in Bayside twice and HATED it there!! The ladies behind the desk are rude, and the hairstylists didn't listen to me at all. I would NOT recommend it to anyone.
I would, however, recommend SPAce Salon in Astoria...they do a great job with both hair & make-up.

the aveda salon in the Queens Center is supposably fabulous. ALL the girls i work with get cuts by Danielle & Amy. Not sure about their updo's but i can ask - and i'm sure u're gonna wanna go for trials anyway. I will say that all my girls haircuts & color are amazing so i'm sure they're great!

Just ignore the ladies behind the desk. I've never had a problem with Jerri. I don't go for hair anymore, the prices are a bit high for me since I have to color frequently. But I do go for my nails and for special occasion hair.
There are alot of stylists who do wonderful bridal work. During the summer months the place is packed with brides and even girls getting their hair done for communions. Worth taking a look at. Full service salon also does makeup. They do open early for brides if need be. Only reason I did not use them for my own wedding was time - I needed to be ready for pics at the RH at 10am, so I chose a salon that was closer to NRC.

everyone raves about spectrym in the forest hills area...i never went but went to christies & co and they did an amazing job, great job with make up too.
Ill have to say i tried call spectrym one time to do my hair for a wedding i was attending and didnt like when i called up to book an appt and i never went.
I LOVE friends in astoria, but not sure if you want to go to astoria or stay a bit closer to where you are
ill be honest, for things such as hair color i dont go to queens for. When i used to do blonde in queens and went to ALOT of places to try it, most do this yellow-ish blonde with the orange-ish toner. For red though i went to friends salon and they did an amazing job. I am very picky about my hair since i had so many people not do what i like or not leaving the salon 100% satisfied. FOr blonde i only use this woman in the city and also a male co-worker of hers if i have to.
Friends is one of the few salons in queens that i love and actually have gone to a few times. Its all guys who work there and ESPECIALLY for blow-outs, curls, updo's and things like that, they are so good. I also know that theyre currently opening a salon on 50-something street and 5th ave in the city
ill have to say that for things such as curls, updo's and stuff like that i prefer queens over the city. The city likes a different style for events so itll be more plain. Queens they do it up a little bit more lol and are good with curls.

you know whats funny, at christie's they did EXACTLY what i asked for and loved it and the people were so nice. But i went to space and didnt like what they did...i guess this shows that everyone has different experiences

I love Christies!! I always go there. Ask for Maria for updos and Liz for Makeup! the women behind the desk are actually kinda funny. Jerri is not so nice, but that's just her. Everyone else is wonderful and Maria is an ARTIST!
