What would you think if the MOB wore the same dress she had for her son's wedding 5 years prior? The dress is beautiful (was ~$750), but do you think people will notice and say things behind her back? Honest thoughts.....

honestly i wouldn't remember what someone wore 5 years ago unless it was something super flashy and very attention getting

Really close family members may actually remember...in my family they probably would talk about it behind her back. I don't know about your family though.
I unerstand that she paid a lot of money on it and it's beautiful, but I personally would prefer to have her wear a different dress.

Maybe this makes me childish and petty, but yes, it would bother me. I'm sure it's a beautiful dress, and while $750 is a lot of $$ and it would be nice for her to get use out of it, it would seriously irk me. But my biggest issue would be the pictures.... I wouldn't care whether people were talking behind her back, I would be more concerned with the fact that in your pictures she'll have on the same dress that she wore to your brother (or bil's) wedding. JMHO.

i feel the same way. can she either have the dress changed in some way or wear it to other events instead?

honestly i tried to get my mom to wear the dress she wore to my bro's wedding to mine - i knew she would buy something very close to it anyway. Problem was she couldn't fit in it so she didn't wear it.

Alter it in some way, get different embellishments or wraps for it. Change it in some way.
