Sample CP question

Sample CP question

I have my 1st florist appointment tomorrow and I am really excited but I have a question. What if a florist makes you a sample and you dont like it? Is there are charge? Do you give them another chance? How do you say you dont like it?

Re: Sample CP question

I went to a florist and they agreed to do a sample free of charge and I haven't book a vendor for the flowers yet. I thought this vendor was very considerate and nice to offer a sample for me without them knowing if I'm booking them or not.
I guess if you don't like it, you may say you were envisioning something different or setup in a different way. I suggest you take pictures of CP's that you can use as samples and give them ideas as how you want them to look.

One that I visited said that they do a sample about 2 months before. (No charge)

Re: Sample CP question

I'm going to see a sample in 2 weeks. I have already chosen my florist and she'll be doing the sample free of charge. If there's anything I don't like I'm going to be very honest with her. I have told my florist that I would like my CP to be a low ball of fall colored roses and gerbera daisies. When I see it in person there may be something that I'm not crazy about, or a color that I would like to be more dominant. I'll just let her know what I would like changed so it's perfect for my wedding day. You just need to be very clear about what you want. You're paying to have what you want so that's how it should be done.

Re: Sample CP question

I saw my sample on Saturday. If there had been anything I didn't like about it, I would have said exactly what I wanted instead (fuller, more roses, less greenery, whatever).

I don't think that I would have gotten a second sample in that case, but I think it is appropriate to ask for one if you are making a lot of changes. I'm not sure if you would have to pay for a second sample though.

Re: Sample CP question

But if you first see a sample so close to your wedding, how do you know they will do a good job for the big day? For example: if you dont like their samples, there is no time to start looking for a new florist. I thought I was going to the florists, tell them what I am envisioning and bring pics and then come back in like a week to see what they have created from my description, that way I will know if I should book them.

I asked my florist to change some things. he is not doing a second oen, but the changes are not that drastic.

I saw exactly what i wanted for my CP online, and fortunately, Flower Michele was the original creator of that CP and bo-k i wanted. But i think you also have to trust the florist you book to do a good job for you. If your design session is two month before your day, you have time to re-do their sample. I don't know if they would charge for more than one sample- you should definitely ask!

I won't get to see my CP sample until about 1 month before and they told me whatever I wanted to change about it would be fine - that's what it's for.

This is rough. You gotta trust and see other work. It is hard for me because I must be dumb or something but I can't really envision things unless I see them!!! So, this is one heck of a challenge. Make sure you get a good florist....someone who will deal with you nicely if you need to change your mind 7 times...(I am up to 7 and I booked a month ago). Good Luck my dear! If you need a recommendation...I got you girl!!!!!

Seriously, I am so upset. This seems totally backwards. I wanted to just know what I was getting exactly and be done with it. How do you know how many flowers will be in there and the exact color pink (or whatever) you are getting for the $? I really dont get this.

Re: Sample CP question

my florist gave me samples of the flowers, so we could see how the colors look & to get ideas, as we were working together. he wrote it all down, then next time I saw CPs & he wrote up everything & I made a deposit.

Now that makes sense to me!

Re: Sample CP question

In my contract, FLower Michele actually states approximately how many sunflowers will be in there- so they wouldn't just stick in one sunflower and a mess of greens and babys breath. I don't think they would ever do anything like that,(they are awesome!) but I guess they mentioned it to make me feel better. And since sunflowers vary in size, it will vary a little from one CP to another.

when I booked John from Flower Michele on the contract it states exactly how many roses there will be in the CP, we picked pastels for the bouquets but he said that it is fine if I change my mind - the color is not that important, the kinds of flowers are... he told me that once I have the dresses to bring the fabric and we will pick what goes well with them...

Re: Sample CP question

I requested a sample from both florists with whom I met (I'm required to use 1 of the 2). I used it to see 1) what quality of flowers they'll be using and 2) how well they listened to what I wanted.

One sample was perfect--exactly like the pictures I showed them and how I described what modifications I wanted.

The other sample was really off base and I told the florist. I think I just said that it was very pretty but not what I had in mind. I then described again what I wanted and she tried taking out some of the flowers that I didn't like. She offered to do a second sample for me another time, but I decided it wasn't worth it. I was very specific the first time around and she *sort of* listened to what I wanted, but then took too much creative license. Definitely get a sample before you book.

Re: Sample CP question

After I met with my florist for the first time, he said that he'd make a sample for us and that after we saw it we can then put a deposit down. He also told us that if we didn't like it or wanted to see something different he would work with us and make additional samples until it was what we wanted. He doesn't charge for the samples.

Thanks everyone. I think I decided that if they are pressuring me to book or give them a deposit without me seeing a sample, then they just arent the one for me.

Thanks everyone!
