San Diego My REVIEW..UPDATED WITH PICS EVEN MORE!!!

Original post by Suzanne

So we went to CA on Friday, and DELTA is the WORST WORST WORST airline ever.. before we take off some employee in a truck on the runway hits the plane and pokes a hole in the engine and we have to de plane and reboard another plane. then last night on the way home, we were delayed 2 hours and they were SOOO rude and then they lost my luggage, luckily it came at 2am last night to my house.

Anyway..
The HYATT ISLANDIA WAS OUTSTANDING!!! it was like a rainforest of greens and beautiful flowers EVERYWHERE! the out side of the hotel smelt like a florist.. the room was beautiful and very clean, well worth the money and in the PERFECT location, we could not have asked for a better location, it was in a short driving distance from EVERYTHING.. the food was great.. we had room service alot for breakfast, and in the lobby was a little starbucks that had coffee and crossiants that we got some mornings... the hotel room had a sliding door that opened SOOO wide and everynight we slept with it open and we could hear the water and the breeze was so nice and not one bug!! i couldnt believe it!!! there was a beautiful fish pond and there was a couple getting married there right in the court yard! dont worry i have pics of ALL Of this!

On Saturday we went to coronado and walked aound the town, it was very beachy and we LOVED it.. we visisted the del coronado which was better than words can describe, they have shops in there and its just SOO pretty and we went on their beach put our feet in the ocean and took B&WW pictures. Then we went over to laJolla, which was SOO nice.. its also on the water and its a little town with all shops not like souvineer shops but boutiques and more upscale stores like ann taylor and nortrams.. it was SOO nice..

Sunday was our anniversary and we woke up and went to the zoo.. i personally was not completley thrilled with the zoo.. i dont think it was any better than the bronx zoo, except for the flowers everywhher.. it was VERY hilly and it took ALOT out of you to walk around, the panda exhibit line was like 2 hours long so we didn not get to see that.. but all in all it was a nice day out.

SATURDAY NIGHT, we went to BERTRANDS at MR AS (a recommendation from Yabbobay!! THANKS!!!)
it was BEAUTIFUL.. there were panoramic views of the entire city and you can see the planes coming in and out so close. frank loved it but it freaked me out a little since i was there on 9-11 and just kind of reminded me of the whole ordeal. but the meal was PERFECT~!!! our hotel had them give us a complementary app. which was scalops and caviar.. ( i couldnt eat it but it looked great, and such a nice thought) i had filet mignon, and that was outstanding.. the chef sent over cookies and on the plate in chocolate sauce was happy anniversary.. it was SOOO nice.. the resturant was beautiful, i have never been in a nicer place..but its VERY $$$$$$...

Monday we went for massages that was GREAt, only this guy massaged my but and i never had that before so it freaked me out, and then i told frank and he has been making fun of me since.. all in all it was SOOO relaxing, then we went to sea world, which i think is over priced, but one thing i got to do was FEED THE DOLPHINS and it was awesome.. the next time i go i am DEFINALTY doing the DIP program... it would be great to swim with them!

Tuesday we went to Delmar which was amazing so pretty, definaly a surfing town!!!

We did so much everyday that we were soo tired at night we couldnt do much.. we did go to this part of town called the gaslamp which was more of a club/bar atmosphere, and i didnt want to go to those places.. we were too tired anyway..

we rented alot of movies, they have on command there and there was all kinds of movies to rent that are still in the theatre like chicago.. i couldnt believe it.. i rented LORD OF THE RINGS, HOW TO LOOSE A GUY IN 10 DAYS and OLD SCHOOL.. they were awesome.. we positioned the tv to point out to the balcany and sat outside and watched tv from there with blankets.. it was great.. and sooo relaxing!!!
well i guess thats it for now.. im soo sad, i dont want to be back!! LOL

Suzanne...with the exception of housing and gas...I have found EVERYTHING to be less expensive...

our power bill is $60 a month!!! granted we don't need heat or a/c
cable for EVERYTHING and a modem is $80...I paid $125 in NYC
I could go on and on about groceries...CA fruit...$.99 /lb for grapes!! all year!! its great!!

and salaries are less than NYC...but I think they are comparable to LI

Erica,
Thanks! frank wants to go so bad, i feel strange being away from my mom and dad and the rest of my family, since it would be so far, but i told him if this is what he wants then i will try it out, so i think he has been looking online for a job.. well see.. maybe one day!

OMG!!!! You fed dolphins!!! I'm dying to do that!!!
So glad you had an awesome time. Sorry about the flight. FH and I went to Puerto Rico and American Airlines was HORRIBLE too. We sent in a 2 page complaint letter

Edited to add that FH and I also rented Old School and Daredevil on Demand

Good!! We demanded a full refund in our letter. I doubt they'll do it, but hey maybe they'll give us something back. The flights were horrible...they weren't even worth $1
FH said that he would NEVER fly with AA again. That's how bad they were. It wasn't the fact that the flights were delayed. It was how they treated us and the whole situation! I can't believe how some of the airlines are still in business

marcela...you may just get a coupon to use for another flight of theirs...thats what united did when their video (movies) would not work on a flight from Tokyo to NY 13 HOURS!!!

suzanne...just one tip for searching for a job in SD...its a high demand area for work (who wouldn't want to move) so a lot of places only accept local applicants to apply...we got around it by using a friend's address...so if you need an address...you can use ours...then just put your own number and email...

Beautiful pics!! I love the dolphins . I have a friend who used to live on LI who now lives in the San Diego area (Poway) and she loves it there. She said that she would never, ever move back to LI. The company we both worked for has offices all over the country and she was able to transfer out there with her LI salary. She said the same thing that Erica did.. rents are on the high side, but pretty much everything else is less.

Glad you had fun!

wendy...now that we are researching areas to buy a house...we have found that Poway has one of the best school districts in SD county!!! Its on our list to check out

I know that she loves the area and had nothing but good things to say about it. She doesn't have kids so I didn't know about the schools but that is terrific. Good schools are so important.
