San Francisco

FI and I are going to San Francisco and wanted to know if anybody had any suggestions on cool places to stay, eat or see! Thanks!!! This is both of our first time out there.

Definitely Fishermans Wharf, Coit Tower (the view is awesome), Lombard Street (the Crooked Street), Golden Gate State park... the whole city is just so pretty.... if you get a chance, its about a 20 minute drive out of the city, go to the Cliff house for dinner or drinks around Sunset. Its right over the Pacific ocean and its a famous restaurant thats been around for about a hundred years.

I really enjoyed the tour of Alcatraz, they give you headphones so you're hearing the tour as well as seeing it.

We also took the ferry to Sausalito, a very cute artsy town. It was fun for walking around and visiting the shops.

I also liked Coit Tower.
For meals I remember a place called Moose's (I think that was the name?) it was in the Italian part of town (Northside?) it was very good.

Like any city I really just enjoyed walking through the different neighborhoods - China town, the Italian section, the shopping, we didn't do much on the wharf - it was very touristy but we did check out the big seals/sea lions that laze around.

You're going to have a great time!

ETA - Bring comfortable shoes because you're going to do a ton of walking - best way to experience all of those hills!!!

You are going to have so much fun! My brother and SIL were there in July and they stayed @ The W hotel--it looked amazing. They loved it!! They rented a convertible and drove over the Golden Gate Bridge and just toured the city from morning till night. it looks beautiful!! have fun!!!!!!

oh and Baker Beach has a great view of the bridge. great spot to take pics (we did some of our e-pics there)

Ah...if you're renting a car-I'd suggest some side trips to Muir Woods, Napa/Sonoma, Half Moon Bay. We drove down to Monterey and Big Sur--which is amazing!
