San Fran/LA hotels?

So now that FH and I have FINALLY sat down and started planning the HM. . .we're starting to look at hotels! What would be your suggestions (to girls who have been).

I would stay just outside of SF or LA and rent a car personally

last year we went for 10 days, started in LA and drove up coast to san fran

in LA, we stayed in santa monica, and loved it. we were at a sheraton near the beach.

san fran it was an intercontinental

go to wine country when you are near san fran, i have lots of advice for that if you need help.

I live in Los Angeles and I would stay at one of the beaches. The above poster said Santa Monica which is fun- right in the middle of the action and close- closer to other parts of LA. Or... I highly recommend Hermosa or Manhattan beach which is a little bit south of the LAX airport- both adorable beach towns with great bars and restaurants. Malibu is nice but it tends to stay gloomy up there longer than other parts of the coast. If you drive up to San Fran def. take the PCH and stop along the way- its a very cool way to see the state and see cute little towns.

Last summer FH and I stayed at the London Hotel in West Hollywood and loved it. It's right off the Sunset Strip. Maybe you can do a few nights in the city and a few on the beach?

The Sofitel is supposedly really nice.

I've stayed at the Beverly Hilton (in Bev Hills) and the Luxe on Rodeo drive. Both places were amazing.

If you go to San Fran, rent a car and spend a day in Sausalito. Oh and drive down to Monterey and Carmel. AWESOME drive along the ocean!

I agree re: Monterey/Carmel.

With San Fran, we did priceline. We put that we only wanted to stay in a 5 star hotel and put a low rate, and figured we'd take whatever we got, since how bad could a five star hotel be?

If you really don't mind where you stay, I recommend doing that.

We did the same for LA, got a great hotel in Santa Monica at a great rate.

But we got more specific with where we wanted to stay for the spots in between, so did research and chose specific hotels
