Hi Girls, so the FH and I met with a reformed rabbi this weekend and he was telling us he really likes it when couples perform the sand ceremony. Anyone familiar with it? From what I read online, it seems like it takes the place of a unity candle, but we are having a jewish ceremony?!

Re: Sand Ceremony?
I'm not too familiar with it either, but I know it can take the place of a unity candle.
I want to do the sand ceremony. I don't think religion matter with it. (I'm catholic)

Re: Sand Ceremony?
the sand ceremony is basically this.
You have two smaller jars of colored sand (different colors). After the bride and groom exchange vows, the bride take one color and the groom the other and then pours the sand into a third larger jar, alternating. The combining of the colors symbolizes the unity of the bride and groom and their lives together.

Re: Sand Ceremony?
sand art!! I was just telling my family about this last night. but when I've seen it done, the moms do it, cause I think they usually are the ones lighting the unity candle.
