Sandals Antigua or Sandals St. Lucia

Hi, I had considered going to St. Lucia in August, I put down a deposit and now I am having second thoughts. I heard that it rains alot in St. Lucia. I was on an Antigua chat room and they said such great things about Antigua including the weather. Does anyone have any experiences with anyone of the islands? My travel agent said it is not a problem to switch but it is according to what is available. So I need some info fast! Your opinions will be really appreciated! Thanks in advance.

Sandals Antigua or Sandals St. Lucia

My fiancee and I booked Sandals Antigua for our May honeymoon. We know 3 couples who went there and had nothing but great things to say about it. I have heard good things about St. Lucia too but we decided to go with Antigua because of word of mouth. Im sure you can not make a wrong decision.....Good Luck!

Sandals Antigua or Sandals St. Lucia

The weather in Antigua is great...a pretty dry island, but we did have passing showers almost every afternoon. They would last five to ten minutes and that would be all. They were actually a bit refreashing! We went to Sandals Antigua last July for our honeymoon. Although we had a good time. We felt that Sandals is highly overrated and could hae spent our money much better elsewhere. I can only speak for Sandals Antigua, but I would not return there. The food was average to less than average. DO NOT pay for conseirge service (our travel agent tried to tell us this). It is not worth it..whenever we called to use it there was no one there to answer the phone. Also the property is not as big as you might think so any room that you stay in is within a 1 to 2 minute walk to the beach. Also the beach is a public beach. It wasn't very crowded but you do get the Antigian people are constatnly trying to sell you things. We were disappointed enough to write a letter and our travel agent got us two free nights at any Sandals. We are going to use them at the one in the Bahamas, but we will only stay long enough to use our free days and then stay elsewhere. It is also a very poor island. This is apparent from your trip from the airport to Sandals. We went on a half day taxi tour of the island which was great. People who went on the 'shopping' tour to town were very disappointed...not much there but cheap rum.

I went to Antigua

We enjoyed ourselves. It's a nice resort. It depends on what you want, relaxing or active. We wanted relaxing, but the option to do some water sports and Scuba Dive. So it worked out perfect for us. The restaurants are good. The little snack bar isn't great, but your pretty full from breakfast, lunch and dinner. Breakfast and lunch are buffets. Which we loved. You can always take some extra food from these if you think you'll be hungry and don't like the snack bar. The sip sup drink is good. They have all these fruity drinks. We liked the fact that we didn't have to pay anything, it was all included. All the water sports are free and we took advantage of that. However, we did get a little bored towards the end becasue we are used to being on the go. But overall it was really nice. I probably would not go back though, just because we were bored. That was our one relaxing trip. Next trip is Australia in August. My boss went to St. Lucia, she said it was really pretty, but there is next to no beach, they have a pool that everyone was in. Just decide what you want out of your honeymoon, if you want to relax go to sandals, if not then go someplace else. I heard that that concierge service wasn't worth it. Also the Rondovals are horrible because they are right by the beach were all the locals hang out and talk. Where you stay doesn't matter, all the rooms are nice, we had the deluxe right by a pool.

I went to Antigua

Thanks everyone for your take on this matter. I am still deciding on which one to choose. The travel agent informed me that it will cost about 300.00 more for the same room I was getting in St. Lucia at Antigua. I may just stay with St. Lucia Thanks again

To MichelleW- St. Lucia

We are considering St. Lucia for our honeymoon. What do you mean by 'dirty'. Where did you stay? I read alot of good things about it. It interests us becuase it seems that there is alot to do besides lay on the beach, such as tour the rainforest and dormant volcanos.

To MichelleW- St. Lucia

I have been to St. Lucia in July. They have short showers in the afternoon which only last 10-20 min. Otherwise it was sunny. I liked the island, although the town is very poor. I recommend the horseback riding near the beach. It was nice.

St. Lucia/Samantha

Samantha, We stayed at Club Med. What I didn't like was that there were cows and horses roaming on the beach. In some sections there were also piles of garbage on the streets and pigs rummaging through it. Call me spoiled but this was not something I really wanted to see. Maybe it has changed
