Does anyone know if the basic(cheaper) rooms are nice? There is a big price differance and we usually don't stay in our rooms. We like to go out and mingle. If the cheape rone arenice, i would like to save some $$

Re: Sandals Grande
although i've never been to the grande, i do work in the travel industry and can offer some tips...
pay VERY close attention to the photos and descriptions of what is on their website. a lot of times - unless its something like a private pool or a view - the room rates go up when the size of the room grows.
Find the press room section of the website. You'll find less 'salesy' info there that will probably be of more help. It may answer some questions about the different rooms - what was renovated when and so on.

Re: Sandals Grande
I went to the Grande St. Lucian on my HM and again for our 2 year anniversary. Both times we booked the cheapest room. There is no major difference between rooms at all...just views. We got free upgrades...but all the rooms are the same. There is not a bad room or view in the place. I met a lot of people who got the swim up rooms and concierge and said that it was not worth the extra money.
eta: all the rooms are the same size, it used to be a hyatt
