Ok, I'm starting to panic. Got pricing for a few Sandals over the weekend, and did my own research online. Apparently pricing was based on a big sale they have now, 50-65% off, and the prices I was given were based on the sale.
The travel agent just called me back and told me, oops, her bad, the prices were going to DOUBLE after thursday. There's no way we're going to make a decision by then with all the stuff going on with FH's dad right now, and as much as I said before I was just going to book it, given current circumstances I can't do that.
So she didn't know if the sale would be extended, reinstated in a month, etc. Does anyone have experience with these sales, and would know if I let this sale expire if I just screwed myself?
Because no way in HELLO we're going to spend 10k to go to Antigua. If that's the case, we probably will not have a HM and just go to Greece a year later, and then he wins

Re: Sandals HM Question
I would book the hotel and not the airfare. Sandals really doesn't do many sales throughout the year. If you change your mind you will get your deposit back. Only airfare is non refundable. You can always book air at a later time.

Well, the deposit would hold the price obviously...but I can't leave a deposit until we make a decision as to what to do, and I don't think we'll be able to do that before Thursday I def don't want to lose ANY money by leaving a deposit and then having to bail when FH flips.

Really, you get your deposit back for the hotel if you cancel?

Re: Sandals HM Question
We booked our Sandals HM like 6 months ago bc there was only “TWO DAYS LEFT!!” in the sale price we got. Since then, the price hasn’t gone up once and actually we saved $800 last month bc it went down even more. Obviously I can’t predict the future and don’t want you to blame me if you miss out on the sale, but I think you’ll be fine.

Re: Sandals HM Question
Why are the going to double? Sandals has been having that sale since I booked (and maybe before) and that was in november!! With tourism the way it is I highly doubt the rates are going to increase.. I know they say 'two days left' on the sale, but then they just have another one!

Re: Sandals HM Question
We booked our honeymoon to Antigua in back February cause of the great sale and we didn't know how long it would last. And the sale is still going on!! I guess you never know with these things, but it seems to me like Sandals offers these sales often. The deposit was only $400 and the balace is due a month before the honeymoon. We are obviously waiting to book our airfare till it gets much closer. HTH!

Re: Sandals HM Question
Honestly, I'm not sure if the TA I saw was that with it. I had to tell HER about the deals I was seeing, because she wasn't offering me anything special, like it was going to come out of her pocket or something So IDK...she said prices were 50% off, so after Thurs will double, but I don't know how much I trust her. I'll have to see what FH says...a big giant NO I'm sure, but with all the family drama going on I really don't know if Thursday is possible.

All hotels usually have cancellation policies but that's usually only like 48-72 hours before your trip. We put money down on a hotel with our travel agent and changed our hotel and their were no penalties.

Which travel agent did you talk to? I can refer you to mine she was really good. When I booked she told me that the sales weren't going anywhere. I actually ended up getting $500 back because the prices dropped more since then... the only reason I booked so early was because I had my mind made up and the $ for the deposit.

yes, that is what i meant, i should have been more specific....you should def be able to put a deposit on the hotel and get a refund should you decide to cancel or change ur mind.
this way you don't have to worry about the rate going up and you can discuss it with fh when things calm down

Re: Sandals HM Question
sandals requires a $400 deposit to hold the price, I do not believe this is refundable.
The sale has been going on forever, it's really not a sale, I booked last July and I have had the price reduced 2x's already because they came out with new sales, so I wouldn't worry, if the prices double, I doubt it will last too long. It seems in the past year it has always been on sale.

Re: Sandals HM Question
Sandals has been running the same 'sale' for months and any travel agent who tells you other wise is lieing to you to get you to book! Do not give in to the pressure! I spoke with Travel tom(who everyone raves about and I honestly dont know why!) He told us we needed to decide by the next day or we would miss out on this great sale! Riiiiiiight buddy! He was beyond pushy Luckily a friend recommended a great TA to me and she was so honest about everything. She was like yeah it says '6 days left' but who are they kidding!
