Sandals Honeymooners- x-post

Posted this on 2011 boards but need some more help! If you're going to a Sandals, thinking about a Sandals, or been to one......

'Which resort are you choosing? Did you book already or are you waiting?? And are you going for butler service or not?

Everyone says that you haveee to do the butler thing if you go, but I'm not sure it's necessary and if we save money on that maybe we would stay longer... Maybe anyone whose been to one before, or who booked it with a butler or without can give me some insight!'

We are staying at the Sandals Royal Bahamian. We wanted to stay someplace reasonable and friends of ours have been to this resort 3 times and LOVED it, no problems. Friends went to Sandals Jamaica for their jhoneymoon and hated it, lots of problems. We liked the idea of the Bahamas! We booked it about a month ago and we are getting married in July. No, we are not getting butletr service. I do hear that Sandals St. Lucia is nice also.

We are staying at the Sandals Grande on Saint Lucia. We opted for the Private Bungalow with Butler. We are staying 8 nights/9days. Money to us was not a factor when deciding because we are fortunate enough that FIL's are paying for our HM so they wanted us to have an amazing HM.

FM me for more info if you want

We are going to Sandals Jamaica. I have been there before and I love Jamaica. We are already booked. We will be away during 'winter break' so this was the most reasonable price and best flight we could do. (still paying 8k) It may be cheaper to get married in February, but it such isn't cheaper to travel!!!! We were going to do Antigua or St. Lucia, but there were not many non-stop flights and I refuse to have a layover lol

Good luck

I'm a Sandals Nut.. Been to the Royal Bahamian, Antigua, all but Netril on Jamaica...and will be in St. Lucia for our honeymoon.. (I used to be a travel agent!).

We decided on 11 days and no butler... there isn't much that they wont do for you there if you just ask... and if you have concierge that takes care of things like reservations etc... and you save money not only on the room cost... but the tip as well... because the butler is to be tipped... (customary is about $30-50 a day depending on how much you use them).

If you want some info.. feel free to FM me..

We did Sandals Antigua & were there for 13 days and stayed in concierge level suite, no butler. we did rent a pool cabana 1 day that had the butler service for the whole day & that was really nice. I dont think the butler service is really necessary for the ENTIRE HM unless you really plan on never leaving the room. To me, it's an optional wasted luxury that can be better spent somewhere else - like the excursions you would like to go on or the professional pictures they take of you at the resort. JMHO

I have stayed at the Sandals Grande St. Lucian. I didn't have the butler services, but something I did notice that I thought was fantastic (and was sooo jealous of) the butlers would reserve these cabana/lounge chairs (which were impossible to get if you didn't have a butler) for their couples in the morning and set them up with cold water, beer, towels...It seemed like a great perk!

We stayed at the Sandals Regency in St. Lucia for our HM. We stayed in one of the rooms with butler service. The room was right next to the pool which was awesome and never crowded like the main pool. The butler service wasn't anything spectacular, I would say it was good for booking excursions and dinner rezs, but other then that we wouldn't have missed it if we didn't have it. However, friends of ours went a month after us for their HM and they said their butler was outstanding so I guess it depends on the butlers you get assigned, ours were lacking a bit.
