Sandals resorts-has anyone gone?

I`m getting married in June and planning on going to the Sandals in Antigua. Has anyone been to a Sandals resort and how was it? Any advice would help.

Sandals resorts-has anyone gone?

We went to Sandals, St Lucia-Golf and Spa Resort. We almost went to the one in Antigua. We had such a great time. There is so much to do in the resort. We went into town to do some shipping which was nice, however it is a poor Island. But it was BEAUTIFUL!!! There is always something to do. They have activities all day and night. All you do is EAT EAT EAT!!!!The pools were really big, and love the swim up bars. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. I think all-inclusive is the way to go.

Sandals resorts-has anyone gone?

We were at Sandals Antigua in August. We were dissapointed. Half of the retaurants were closed, there was no piano player in the piano bar, the disco was always closed, we switched out room four times due to situations I wont get into, and the staff were kind of rude. We spoke to management and he agreed there are some problems. Alot of other couples were complaining and we all got a free trip to use by next Aug. I want to use it for the one in Bahams, but I have been on message boards and heard some of the same problems there. It really depends what you like though. I was at breezes bahamas and loved it and thought that because sandals was more money it would be even better. to tell you the truth, I thought Breezes was better.

I went to Sandals - Montego Bay for honeymoon

And it was really nice. My only problem was that two of the 'theme' restaurants were not good at all. They were pretty, and elegant, but the food was bad. The other restaurants were really good, though. It was an elegant resort, and was loads of fun. And, since Jamaica is such a poor country, we didn't leave the resort on our own, ever (only on organzied tours). Nevertheless, they arranged a lot for the resort, and we were never bored, unless, of course, we wanted to be (which we did want to be). It really was a great experience, and the all-inclusive was definitely the way to go (especially since you've already spent so much on the wedding just before, it's nice to not have to take out your wallet for a week... Good luck and enjoy!

I went to Sandals - Montego Bay for honeymoon

My husband and I also went to Montego Bay and we had a wonderful time. I must have gained 5 pounds there - the food was fabulous. We also visited the other sandals on the the island and that was really fun. There is so much to do that you can have a wonderful time without leaving the resort.

Re:Cindy

Hi Cindy, I am going to Sandals in the Bahamas for my honeymoon in April. What kind of problems exactly did u have in the one in Antigua? I have been reading the message board on Fodors and some people have mixed feelings about Sandals in the Bahamas...some people say its great and some say its not. If u don't want to get into it on the board could u e-mail me privately at [email protected] Thanks, Allison

Re:Allison

Allison- I have been on bahamas message boards too. I think it is just a sandals message board. There are mixed reviews like you said. We did go to Antigua off season. They would just say that a restaurant was booked for the night and you would walk by the whole night and only 1/4 of the restaurant was full. The disco was barely open and the piano player called in sick most of the 7 nights we were there, so there went to piano bar. Some people love it, but we both have been all over the carribean and on cruises and we along with alot of other couples we met there were very dissapointed. It really depends on what you like. We had major problems with the rooms too from check in to the last night we were there. Maybe since bahamas is bigger is it better. When are you going? We were thinking of going there in April to use our trip they gave us to make up for it. If you have any more questions, let me know and I will email you.

I have been on a Princess cruise and Celebrity cruise. On the Princess line it was alot of an older crowd where Celebrity was more mixed. I heard Royal Carribean was a good cruise. We did the southern carribean and the western carribean. I hope that helps :)Good Luck!!! What is your date in Aug??
