Re: Sandals St. Lucia
I booked right on their website... they guarantee the lowest prices. Prices vary by location and room etc.. so if you go their website they have all the prices listed right on there. Probably the most accurate infor you will get is direct from them. Airfare was INSANE though!!!!

Agreed re: their room prices - they have the best ones, for air fare we went through a travel agent, they got us direct flights at a better price!

The website does guarantee the lowest prices, but you can often get good things thrown in with a travel agent., Basically the way it works is that commission is built into the price. If you book through Sandals, they keep the commission, if you book with a TA, the TA gets the commission, so they're often willing to give you something for that. We worked with Amy - [email protected].
We paid the same price as we saw on the website but we got a free candlelight dinner thrown in ( usually $170), a flip cam, and a spa credit. Our deposit was also lower. Definitely worth doing with a TA, IMO.
About the prices themselves, they really range depending on the room type and resort and the kind of special they have going on. We were originally looking at the Grande, but we kind of waited too long, so the rooms we wanted were booked. The deals were also better at la Toc. For just a few hundred more than we were paying for a medium level room at the Grande, we were able to get a Butler level suite on the Sunset Bluffs at La Toc because at LaToc they were offering 60% off (vs 50% at the grande) and one night free, which made a huge difference of course.
We paid $1400 for airfare RT, direct via JetBlue. This would have been cheaper had we booked earlier. The price keeps going up in $5 increments.
Our Romeo and Juliet Penthouse Sunset Suite was just over $5100 for 7 nights when we booked in Feb. Now it's going for $6000, since the deals change. I would book early. There were some basic rooms that were more like $3200 for the week. Basically they will give you an immediate quote on the Sandals website, so I started there and looked at the dates and room classes and then spoke with Amy. As I mentioned I got the same price as on the website, but I got the add on of the candlight beach dinner and the flip cam and spa credit, so it was worth it.

Re: Sandals St. Lucia
We went in November 09 and paid $3300 total w/RT airfare and room for a week. We had a middle priced room and they also upgraded us when we got there.

Did you have to negotiate with the TA to throw things in or do they all just do that?!

It's a special that the angency offers It's TravelSmiths in NJ. I did it all via phone/email though. They will usually offer something to get the business. I asked her what the difference was in booking on sandals.com vs. with her and she explained it and then told me what I'd be getting
