Re: Sandcastle Caterers

I am getting married at SC in about 11 and 1/2 weeks!!! I am so excited!! They are so nice and always accommodating. I went the other night to pick up my direction cards.
Invites going out on MON!
Every time someone asks me where I am getting married and I tell them they always say, 'I went to a wedding there and the food was terrific'!
Are you having a viennese hour? It looks great to me.
I have the skylight room and it always looks so pretty when I go in and look. I can't wait for the flowers to come out in the garden. We booked last Jan. so I have never seen it in person only in pics.
Has anyone been there before for weddings? What did you think?
Any info at all is appreciated!
Hooray for us!
So Excited!

I got married there and went to a wedding there of another LIW bride shortly after my wedding and they did a great job. I was very happy with them throughout the planning process and on the day of. I had only one complaint which you can read about in my review. There are also lots of pics in my review and my friend Maxine's review.

I didn't have the VH but my friend did and it was awesome. The food in general was excellent and all my guests raved about the service.

Jimmys bride, your the girl who had the red roses center pieces ?? Right ? If so I think I emaild you about your votive candles. They are beautiful, I did a search on them to see how to make them myself too, cant quite figure it out though, print the name use scotch tape, certain kinda paper,, ???

The sandcastle was the first place we looked at . & I didnt book them right away as I felt in my head 'dont go with the frist place ' look around , so that weekend we looked at Russo'.s = stupid crazy priced for what ?? Howard Beach , big deal. the chateau le mer, = hello can we say Im trapped in the 80's style miami vice decor, LOL Then the last place was John anthonys , or Vientian club , I had wanted it on the water . but all these places didnt compare by far to Sancastle , down to the person who greeted us at the door, Chate le mer has some girl with a tongue peircing who greets you, now dont get me wrong, i dont mind that i have a few tat's too but i dont wanna see that at a wedding hall.. then the banquet manager comes out with a shirt all with stains on it & desheveld, yuck.., MY Fiance ( i still havent gotten the lingo down yet sorry) he was like eww, & he stopped em dead in his tracks & was liek dont go any further , we booked sandcastles.. So we called them back & made a appt for a tasting with my dad . My dad is typical italian , no food is better than his. So he was concerned about that . We went ate & it was incredible..

They took a small deposit from us & then i think its every other 60 days or something you go back & gve more..

So now I find myself getting into this chat stuff gettign ideas for my wedding,, Its so helpfull..

Aside from sandcastle , weve got the church so far & the band. i think we can sit tight for awhile as its not till may 2007,, Aside from lil touches I dont knwo what else to do for now,,

again the votive's i love so if anyone has a simple direction for em, help ...

Oh & BTW , Im not a crazy type of flower person, but just a heads up they said we could rent their's for $20 a table , Not to shabby !!!

We have the skylight room too .. I cant guarantee 200, so thats why , but its pretty ,,

anyone doing the greece vacation? :

No.. Greece vacation for us..

I believe we are going with their centerpieces as well, they are quite gorgeous.

I'm just undecided about the cake.. I heard their cakes were not that great tasting wise.. so.. I'm on the fence here with choosing them for their cakes.. Do you have to choose them? I know it's included but will they allow you to get it from an outside bakery?

Re: Sandcastle Caterers

Yea , the greece vacation , I was told this, If you book with sandcastle , you only have to pay for the flight at the Aegean Hotel. So we looked into it & the hotel looks really nice, weve never been outta the country , so who knows for sure, But I thoguht it was a deal .. We havent decided though yet ..

As for the cake , Ive heard the same , its stinks, but its included on our price too,, Im sure you can go elsewhere's . but to me i just cant see spending a fortune on a cake when its included. Plus , i myself never really eat the cake when we go to weddings.

So I think we are just gonna stick with their cake for that reason alone..

We might though go with the viense hour as Ive seen pics of it & it looks amazing.,

We got a pretty good deal on the price with all thats included , seems you cant beat it..

Dont know what all the other sandcastle brides paid , but for the places we looked at & the typical meat , fish & chicken deal, sandscatle seemed to give you your money's worth...

Re: Sandcastle Caterers

Yes, perhaps you are right. I'm probably going to just stick with their cakes.. I can't see us spending any more money that we don't really have to.. being that it's included.

We are having an afternoon reception frlom 12:30 - 5:30 so we are not having the vienesse.

But, I'm sure it will stil lbe great..

Re: Sandcastle Caterers

Thats how I feel , I heard that cakes can run into hundreds of dollars. I just cant see spening that when its included. they showed us the book & they look just as nice as the ones that are so much money.

Ours is 7:30 pm , so we were thinkin of the extra hour just for extending it ,, We wanna see how the band gets people up & dancing first ...

& if they do then we will extend it,, & Have the extra veinse hour,,

We went to a wedding there in November - it was amazing! The food was fantastic - and it was the first place we went to where the BM came over and asked us if we wanted seconds - which was a no because we filled up during the cocktail hour (oh. my. god.)

They did have the VH, and it was fantastic. But by that point i was just gorging myself - I could barely eat! Everything was amazing though - we had a great time :)

Sandcastlle was the first place I looked at and we had to see one more to compare but it was it! We're doing the greece vacation my MOH's brother did it for his wedding said it was an amazing hotel!!!!!! They told us to not even go for the suite w/ a private pool it's not worth it becasue the whole place is amazing and the beach was great!!!!! I'm sooooooo excited about greece!

I'm on the fence about the cake but a coworker said it was great for her wedding! It was simple though so I'm going to try to stay simple. We did the food tasting too and it was incredible!!!!!

We went with the skylight room only because I like the way it looked more open. They threw in the centerpieces for us but I opted to go for something low with real flowers, I hate anything blcoking my view! I'm saving money like crazy for the viense hour I hope we can afford it!!!!!!
