Sanjaya is still safe?!

Oh why do I watch this show!!!

I refuse to watch. I get all the gossip here on LIW.

I think this is fabulous. This show has gone from a decent idea to a disaster in my opinion. It's a popularity contest. It has little to nothing to do with singing and with Sanjaya still on it is proof of that. I hope this forces the producers of Idol to change the voting rules.

I would really love to see the judges have more say in who goes and who stays. I would also like to see the auditions much more streamlined. Have 3 songs of different styles and have EVERYONE learn them. All songs must be in different keys with different ranges and different vocal styles. Each song should be about 20 - 25 measures in length. Have each singer audition with an accompaniment. Let's face it, NONE of todays pop singers sing without backup. I find it really unfair that they force auditions to be acappella. I think we are really missing out on some fine singers because not everyone has the most amazing sense of pitch. As a music teacher I know that MOST people are pitchy when they sing. We don't hear what everyone else hears when we sing. I think Idol should somehow force everyone to listen to themselves so that they hear and see what the outside world hears and sees. Idol could be an amazing experience for singers but all it ends up being in the end is a bunch of bullshiit, rumors and beauty.
