Re: Saturday
I haven't been to either of these, but good luck looking! Try to get prices for as many different months/days/dates/times as you can. We started off wanting a Sunday night in October, we ended up booking a July Sat. afternoon. Also-negogiate!
Have fun

I haven't been to either but there's a woman on the BHB Oldladybride who LOVED the Larkfield Manor... and friends of mine got married there last month. I'd ask my friend about it but he injured his leg in an ATV accident on his honeymoon... ack!
Alyssa visited Thatched Cottage, but I don't remember what she thought.

Thatched Cottage is nice and I hear nothing but good things about the food, but it wasn't for me. But they were willing to negogiate on the prices, so give it a shot.

Re: Saturday
LM is really beautiful inside and the food is usually pretty good. TC has beautiful grounds and I believe they have a special for winter brides.

i loved the Thatched cottage. it had such a quaint feel to it.....no wedding factory there at all. I enjoyed the food tasting and absolutely loved the raspberry champagne they have. The outside (to me) is absolutely beautiful and was exactly what i was looking for as far as an outside and where we would be getting married. I never got to see the CH room fully...just tiny glimpses b/c parties were always going on. The reception room is a very nice size imo (125 guests for me) and the dance floor was not small. Plus with the windows, you can see the gorgeous outside. However, they were not willing to negotiate price nor throw in extras and it was a set $100pp for June on a Friday night.
Larkfield Manor was nice but just wasn't my style. Inside was nice (flowers painted on the walls, the glass doors to outside, etc, etc) but the ceremony site outside was not for me. The price was $90pp for a Friday night in June, BUT (i believe her name was Marianne and PLEASE PLEASE try to get her as your BM) threw in a seafood boat and desserts on the table. So all in all the price was pretty freakin good. Plus Marianne was so honest and nice, she's worth it alone.
Good luck and let us know how it works out!

Re: Saturday
thatched cottage was the first hall i went to see. the menu sounded amazing but i wasnt crazy about the rooms. the CH room was getting redone but it was downstairs and had a basement-y feel for me. and i wasnt too keen on how they set up their tables in the main room
