I need some opinions. I'm having my wedding on a Saturday afternoon in August at the Miller Place Inn. I don't think it would call for black tie optional, however some people think an afternoon wedding is a reason to bust out there best sundress and khakis. This is not what I want, I'm spending a lot of money to have a classy wedding. If I put 'Formal Attire' what would that mean to you?
Formal Attire is fine or maybe Cocktail Attire. Formal to me is more gownish (word?), whereas cocktail I think of simple black dress with string of pearls look. But than again, with some people, you never know what they think.

I think people will get the point if you write 'formal attire' on your invite.

Re: Saturday Afternoon Wedding
I'm having a Sat afternoon wedding in Sept and I just assumed people would dress nicely like a cocktail party. But, I guess I shouldn't assume! I'll have to think about this, maybe I'll put formal or cocktail dress.

Re: Saturday Afternoon Wedding
The reason why I brought this up was because at one of my BMs wedding some girl came in an outfit like she was going to a club and another girl had on flip flops. I guess it's not a big deal because people who like to dress up will. IMO people should always dress up for a wedding, I mean how many times do you get to do that?
