I've started my search for reception sites, and I'm running into a problem... I want 150 people at my wedding max, and most sat nights, they require a 185+ minimum.
Does anyone have any recommendations for places that have a low sat night minimum?

Re: Saturday night minimums
Perhaps halls with more than one room, like Jericho Terrace?
Also check out George Washington Manor, Swan Club, Chateau Briand, there may be a few others but this is what comes to mind right now.
Good luck and I'll post again if I come up with more!

Not sure about where you are looking, but the Bellport Country Club was very accommodating about it!

Re: Saturday night minimums
You can negotiate the minimums down at some places.
If thats the deciding factor, they should come down.
I got my min down from 185-150.
I didnt threaten them, I just said it would be a lot less stress on me if I could lower the min to 150, even though I expect more.
It also lowers your payments leading up to the wedding because its usually based on mins
Dont rule out nice places just because of the mins, you may miss something!
Good luck!

Re: Saturday night minimums
I know, we ran into similar problems. We're having ours at the Harrison House with 150 min. on a saturday night but like the other girls said, sometimes you can bargain with them.

Re: Saturday night minimums
We got the Royalton at the Roslyn Country Club for a Saturday night with a 150 minimum. It is newly renovated and is the mansion style setting we wanted.
The Huntington Harbor Club had a 150 minimum for a Sat. night wedding.
The Roslyn Claremont Hotel had a 140 person minimum guarantee for a Saturday night. So did the Metropolitan in Glen Cove.
We had the exact same problem. We were looking for a Saturday night for May-Sept '06 (high wedding season) and had to eliminate a lot of places for the number of guests they want you to guarantee. We did not want to have to guarantee more than 150 because even though we will probably invite close to 200, we are aiming to have around 160-170 at the wedding.
If you are set on having a Sat. evening wedding, I think many places will negotiate on the minimum if you are looking at an 'off-time,' such as January-March. We were very interested in the Harrison House, which wanted 175 adults for a Sat. evening in spring/summer, but they would have negotiated if it was a less popular time of year. Most places would rather have 140 people guaranteed in March rather than risk having no booking.
Also, we wanted a place that would do only one event at a time, but if you don't care about that, a lot of places have smaller rooms that only ask you to guarantee 100 or 120 (the trick is getting a room that is big enough but has a lower minimum guarantee). My friend had a wedding in a smaller room at the Watermill and had a very low guarantee for a Sat. (like 110 people).
Good luck!

We had a similar problem. The places we found with lower Sat night min were:
Larkfield Manor ( of course) Meadow Club George Washington Manor Thatched Cottage (still too high for us, but lower then 150) East Wind Country Gardens Tall Grass Country Club

Re: Saturday night minimums
Thanks for all the replies! I didn't think you could negotiate the minimum... good to know. I'd really like the carltun to reduce the sat minimum to 150...
Maybe I'll call tomorrow and see what she says. Any advice?

Re: Saturday night minimums
Glen Island has a 125 minimum for Saturday night. It's in New Rochelle (Westchester) but it's only about 30 minutes from the Garden City area
