Saturday / Sunday Afternoon weddings?

Saturday / Sunday Afternoon weddings?

So...who is having an afternoon wedding? Are you getting married at RH or not? And what are your plans after the reception?

I am considering an afternoon wedding just for the lower minimum in a larger room..lol, but also so I can get married at the RH. Some places don't hold ceremonies on Saturday evenings now.

So... I have only been to evening weddings and not really sure what we should do or are expected to do, after the party.... anyone having an After the Party, party? We have quite a number of people who are OOT guests / family... so we are going to block rooms at a hotel nearby...just not sure if people will drink and be merry and still want to stay over...etc.

Any advice / suggestions are welcome.
TIA!

My wedding ceremony starts at 11:30 and we are getting married at the RH. The reception ends at 5:00 so we definitely want to have an after-party. It will most likely be at one of our parents house.

My church is at 11:30. CH is at 1. We're having a big after party @ the hotel bar. I want my wedding to last all day and night!

we are having a sat afternoon wedding since it brought our minimum down for the room we wanted and it was a whole lot cheaper than at night. i am not getting married at the RH but my CH starts at 1 (my ceremony is at a church and starts at 10:30am, figure that will be enough time to take pics and make it to CH). I dont think FH and I are going to do an after party since it might get kinda pricey, but one of my coworkers had a day wedding and she had booked a bus to take whoever from her reception after her wedding to a bar in huntington and they all hung out there after and had fun.. so thats an idea if you are looking into it!

We are considering an after party at a hotel. Once we finally book a RH, I will try to find a hotel with a bar that will stay open for our party. Can't be too pricey for our guests tho...

Not sure if this is the route we'll end up taking, but it really can make a huge difference. We'd save money on not just the hall, but vendors and there would be no need for limos if we marry at RH. It would kinda be cool to get a place like the Fox Hollow Inn...stumbling distance from party... LOL...but I hear they have some no party rule or something.

our ceremony is at 12:30 with the cocktail hour and reception till 6. Not sure about an after party, the hotel next to our hall doesnt allow parties, so thats up in the air still

We're going to have a Sunday afternoon wedding...it'll probably end around 7 or 8. At this point part of me wants an after party but part of me knows that I won't have been alone with my new husband yet and I might want to get an early start on the wedding night

Hear that loud and clear...

I know we won't be able to though. His family is flying in and staying a few days. My brother (Pray to G-d) will be here for a week or so from the Middle East (he's in the Navy). So we all want to spend time with them. My brother is like my best friend and everyone misses him so much. so...the party must go on..

If we stay out in LI (since we live in bklyn), I want to organize my family to picnic at the vineyards the next day. Just something nice, random and we're half way there anyway... kind of carries the theme of our wedding over the wknd. LOL.

my wedding is at night...but my sister had a saturday afternoon wedding and it was just as fun as if it had been at night...then afterwards we all hung out at the hotel bar for awhile. Then some of us even took the hotel shuttle to a nearby bar/club. We had plenty of time to party after the wedding. My sister didnt pay for the 'after party'...it was up to everyone if they wanted to pay to continue drinking

We will be getting married at our RH and the ceremony starts at 12 pm. Our reception will be over at 6 pm.

That was my biggest thing with having an afternoon wedding, what will we do afterwards? I know myself & FH, that we just cant have it to be over and end that soon! Even though everyone says we will be exhausted, I know we will want some form of an an after party. As of right now, my parents had said that they will be having an after party for our famlies at the house in the backyard. So, I am sure we will start there…but not too sure exactly, but I know we will have something planned. We will want to celebrate all night long!

Re: Saturday / Sunday Afternoon weddings?

We're having a Saturday afternoon wedding. Ceremony will probably be around 4:30/5 and then the reception starts at 7pm. The hall doesn't allow parties to start before 7 on Saturday's, so we have no choice in the time. So our CH is from 7-8pm and then the reception is from 7pm-12am. Our ceremony will be at his church, they're not too strict, so the time of the ceremony shouldn't be a problem.

FH's side has more elderly and children and y side has the teenagers and 20 somethings, but everyone will most likely get wasted at the reception so they'll probably be too gone to have an after party anyway.

We are having a Sunday afternoon wedding. CH starts at 3PM, then the ceremony, and the reception is from 5PM till 9PM. I think we're not going to have any after party unless FH would want to to have something small at a hotel room I am thinking to reserve. Also, I am thinking this is Sunday night, and almost everybody going to work the next day, so I don't think many people would want to continue partying.
Other than these little thoughts I haven't planned anything concrete. Gotta talk to FH.... Jeez another detail to account for!

I will have to start searching for hotels near Woodbury and Westbury that have bar and will let you continue the party. I'll just order a bunch of cabs for guests to hop in...or get a shuttle if one is offered. Any ideas on types of hotels in this area that will let you party? LOL

I am having an afternoon wedding! I also am getting married at the RH after there is a seperate bar so we will all be going there which is very convienient.
Me and FH went to an afternoon wedding over the summer and they had a and after party party and it was great and well needed! The party just HAD to go on. I wouldnt have it any other way! They rented a plain hall for a few extra hours nothing fancy no decorations just a cd playing and plenty of drinks!
