Save the date..

Save the date..

I did a search, but have some questions. How far in advance do you send them out? Is it ok to just send them to out of town guests?

Re: Save the date..

I just sent mine out. My wedding is October 11. Most people told me if I send them out I should do them now, because its getting late already.
Sending them out to out of towners is definitley OK to do.

it is best that you send them out to the outer towners...they can then be thinking about travel costs and time off of work if need be. I will be sending my 'save the date' cards out one yr from my wedding date. It is a magnet, so people can put them on the Fridge as a good reminder.

That is fun!! Where do you get those magnets? I have 7 months left.

Re: Save the date..

Sunny...
I sent out magnets, too. You can either buy magnets at a crafty store. They sell sheets that you can cut to any shape, or you can get the smaller ones with sticky backings. This is if you want to design something on paper then make it into a magnet.
OR
At staples they sell magnet sheets in the size of regular paper. You can print right onto it and just cut out the size and shape of your design. That way there is no cutting and pasting. That is what I did. It was really easy...

My wedding is 10/3/03 & I sent my STD's last week. I sent out a card with travel(made on my computer) & picture magnets that I got from the favor lady(http://www.favorlady.com/). I think they were wonderful. Definitly ok to do only out of towners.

I found them on www.theknot.com under wedding supplies. You have email, I can send the it to you?

They also have magnets are not that expensive at cheapinvitations.com
I ordered regular save the date cards- and attached magnets that came on a sheet that I got at Michaels to some of them.

Re: Save the date..

My wedding is 10/12 & I mailed out my STDs last Mon., 3/3.

I also made mines w/magnet sheets from Office Max - it was sooo easy its ridiculous & cheap! I bought fall themed notecards from paperdirect.com & printed them myself

I have heard great things aabout Favorlady.com tho. If I didn't make them, would've ordered thru favorlady.

I sent mines to everyone on our guest list cuz I wanted to make sure I had correct addresses & all that & let everyone know about our website. But I would've definitely sent them to the outta town guests if nobody else :)

Re: Save the date..

Our wedding is 10/25 and we sent out our STD's with our Xmas cards. We got ours from Laura of LA Productions (she's a vendor on this site). I loved them!!!! They were only about a $1 or so each.

Re: Save the date..

Those are all great! For those of you who did magnets- what did you write on them? Did you just put your names and the date, and enclose something with the rest of the info (hotels, etc..)

Re: Save the date..

I sent mine about 3-4 weeks ago and we're getting married in Sept. Depending on how many out of towners you have on your list . . .I would say 6-9 months prior.

The favor lady is my new best friend! Here are mine!

I mailed out a card and magnet 7 months in advance...

we put our picture on a magnet (very weird to walk into someones kitchen and see your face staring back)...but everyone loved it...especially when family that never met DH, came up to him at a funeral, and greeted him like they knew him forever!!
