If I am sending out my save the dates soon, do I need to address them like a wedding invitation or can I address them informally...For example, if my cousin has 2 kids, should I just write The smith Family or their first names and kids? We had a friend create a map of Port Jefferson and are sending them out postcard style!!!

Thats adorable! I think you can do whatever you want with save the dates. I'm going the more formal route though.

I'm just putting The Smith Family. I don't think you have to be formal until you send the actual invites.

I guess i didn't price it out before i had someone go and sketch the unnecessary save the date...It is becoming quite an expense...

i went more formal. but i also do not have children invited so it was easier to do that.

I wish i didn't have to invite kids, but my cousins are mainly teens so i coudn't have them and then not their sister/brother...
