Save the Date opinions

Hey girls!

So I'm trying to decide what to do for STDs and I think I want to do magnets instead of cards.

My one issue is that the STD I like (that also has matching invitations that I plan on getting) has snowflakes all over it since we're having a winter wedding. I can either get the magnet with no picture, just snowflakes and all the info, or I can get with one of the pictures that FH has approved (he's VERY picky!). The one pic I like the best isn't wintery at all. Is it weird to put a picture that is clearly in warm weather on a magnet that has snowflakes on it? My mom says its fine and that I'm over-thinking it but I just feel like it should be a winter picture. Or I could just do the picture I like in a completely different STD that is simple and purple (matches the tie he's wearing in the pic perfectly) and just has all the standard STD info - sans snowflakes. I like the purple one a lot, but would rather do the snowflake one if people won't think its weird that the picture wasn't taken in the winter. Thoughts? As I'm reading this I feel like I sound insane

Hmm... What does the picture look like besides being 'not wintery'

honestly, if the picture isn't wintery I wouldn't use snowflakes on the save the date. I dont think you STD has to match your invited exactly. Maybe just use the colors and make it coordinate. Or go with the purple one to match his tie :)

It's a picture of us from my college graduation, we're in front of a fountain and I'm wearing a nice dress and he's wearing a nice shirt and tie. I just feel like it doesn't match the snowflakes AT ALL. I think I'm going to go with the purple one LOL I don't think I would notice if someones STD didn't match their invite.

Hmm if you get the one that matches your wedding invitation (which is very cute but I wouldn't say mandatory) then I wouldn't do a photo that is more of a summery photo- that may clash. I would say either use the photo and just do a general background or just use snowflake theme with no photo. Hope we are helping!

I don't think your STDs need to match your actual invites, but I do think snowflakes might look odd with a photo that's clearly not wintery at all.

If you want to do the picture more than the snowflakes, then just go with a color or theme that goes with the picture. If you're more stuck on doing the snowflakes, then forgo the photo and just include the information.

Hope that helps!

Coming from someone who currently has 7 STD magnets on my fridge, most of which we have gotten the invitations for, I haven't noticed if they matched the invitations exactly.

I haven't even thought about invitations yet, but I'm almost ready to order my STDs. Throughout my wedding, I'm having a very neutral color scheme, so that's what I'm going with for my STD. It's basically 2 pictures of us, a cute image we found online, and the information. The info is color blocked with the colors we like. If you want, I can FM you a picture of it.

I like the idea of having a photo on the STD, I think it makes it more personal. Since it's snowy right now, maybe bundle up, get a camera, and shoot some pics of the 2 of you right now? That would definitely go with your theme and be super cute!!
