Save the date question

Save the date question

I have noticed a few fellow July 2005 brides have already sent out their STD's. I didn't realize they had to go out this early? I haven't even started looking for them yet. What is the approximate time frame for when they are generally sent out? TIA!

They're usually sent out 4-6 months before the wedding--according to all the timetables in my wedding magazine anyway. I'm sending mine out next month because over 50% of our guests are OOT and many have to make flight arrangements. Also, people tend to go on vacation during the summer, so this will give them advance notice. That's my theory anyway.

i agree! it is best to give as much notice to oot guests and with the card i will send a list of hotels that they can stay at.

We sent ours out today actually. We are planning a weekend wedding and mostly everyone is from out of town. For non holiday and weekend weddings I've heard between 6-8 months ahead.

I'm the same date as you and we are just starting to pick ours out. Initially, I wanted them out a year before, but the summer went too fast and I heard 6-9 months was plenty of time. No worries!

I am October, 2005, and I am trying to send them out one year or so in advance, because of the holiday weeked, OOT guests, and hotles accomodations. I am having such a hard time deciding what to get though.

i just had to share since you're on the topic! we got our caricatures done and i'm going to make these our stds...

i was debating whether or not to do them (i'm broke and lazy!!!) but i decided to go for it

the artist is going to change a few thigns at my request and we're going to have them printed on magnets!!!! i'll show you the finished product when they're done

I am getting married in april and i think i am sending them out in november. i think that is plenty of time.

I'm getting married in Oct '05...we are sending ours out after the New Year...about 9 months ahead of time.

I sent mine out already because we are getting married the weekend of the fourth. I was told for a holiday weekend in the summer, a year is standard to send them out.

Right after we got engaged I felt like this was one of the first things we should do- of course after booking the place and knowing the date..

I am so glad we held off.. I would have gotten something I would have not chosen after I had more 'bridal knowledge', and it is too far in advance-- people will lose it.

I just ordered mine, and should get them by early Oct- then it will be 6 months before the wedding when we send them.. plenty o time.

I am getting married in September '05 and I just ordered them I will probably send them out th end of October beginning of November because I am getting married on labor day weekend. If people are anything like me they book their vacations way in advance.
