Hi Ladies, I have kinda an odd question....I almost finished laying out my save the dates. I think that i am going to make them magnets. Anyway my question is, when you send a save the date out, what else goes in the envelope, if anything? It just seems putting a magnet in an envelope by itself is wierd......

Re: Save the Date question
this is what i did:
i got cardstock, printed it like a greeting card. on the outside i put 'we're getting married!' in pretty font.
on the inside, i left space for the magnet. under it, i put a little saying (that i don't remember right now) and our website.
i also included the airline discount card and hotel reservation info (for my oot guests)
oh, and i 'taped' the magnet to the card with sticky dots (adjustable kind)... kind of like that sticky stuff credit cards are taped when they come in the mail. i've seen photo corners used also.

I did something similar as well. I made a greeting card with 'extra information' in it, leaving space for the magnet. I stuck the magnet on with photo corners (inserting the magnet into the corners and sticking the corners to the card). I then also stuck a business card in with hotel information.

Wow... my question for you is how did you handle the hotel stuff? Did you just give out a few hotel names/locations/info or did you do one hotel?
Did you offer blocked rooms - asking this because I don't know what to do to block a set of rooms when I don't know how many people want to stay in a hotel.
Thanks!

i decided to go with only one hotel. i know that there are many different schools of thought out there...but i will offer what i did... since it's all i know
i found a hotel that was close to my venue, i had ceremony and reception in same place. i did a quick unofficial poll of who would want a room. i booked a block with just a few less than that. always ask the hotel if you can add more rooms. they want business, so most are happy to do so.
once i signed my contract, they gave me their 'invite insert'. i printed our 'party name' on clear lables and put them on the 'insert'.
hth to clear things up. if you need more info fm me and i'll answer all your questions

Thanks! They are both great ideas! do you think i could let the magnet speak for itself and send it mounted in a blank card? here is a pic of it...i want it to be a little abstract..

i think that's a great std!!
you can put it in a card, with something written on the outside and nothing else, because you included the website/email on the std itself. (i didn't do that... that's why i put in on the card)
i say go for it.
you did a great job

I did a magnet as well. I bought blank cards from AC Moore and printed 'here is a magnet for you to post, to remember the day we'll treasure most' on the outside, used non-permanent rubber cement to attach the magnet to the inside, and printed our wedding website addy on the inside (under the magnet).
