Save the Date Question

Who do you send them to? Everyone you are inviting? What rationale is used in deciding who to send to?

thanks!!!!

Yes, everyone who is invited should get an STD.

They're not required though ... FH and I aren't doing them at all.

I just sent mine out yesterday, so can happily answer this question :)

we sent them to all of the guests that we are definitely inviting.

Re: Save the Date Question

I am pretty much sending only to those people I am 100% positive will be invited to the wedding. If you have any 'B Listers' than I would hold off on sending to them because the etiquette is 'If they get a Save the Date, they get in Invitation' and by the time invitations go out you may have changed your mind about inviting them.

yes everyone you are inviting should get one, however, i only sent one per house hold if say i invited the parents and their daughter with a guest... i didnt really see a point in giving them multiple save the dates if they live in the same house

Agreed. If there's anyone you're on the fence about even a little, don't send to them!!

Re: Save the Date Question

We are sending them to family and the BP, and any close friends that are OOT. We are not sending them to co-workers and not so close friends. it's crazy watching the guest list evolve! People break up, fall off the face of the earth, etc. I only want to send them to people I definitely know that I'll want there a year later! (Yes, I am sending the STDs a year before since we are having a holiday weekend wedding).

I'd leave coworkers out unless you;re REALLY close with them. If you leave your job, or they do you may not want to invite them to the wedding.

Since my wedding is on a holiday weekend, I'm going to send them to everyone so they know in advance.

Re: Save the Date Question

We only sent to FI's family (mainly traveling), friends and a couple of my relatives and my immediate family.

People from my family won't know what the heck a save the date is. And they all live in the city the wedding is in so it was easy to decide not to send them a save the date.

Im getting married Labor Day Sunday so we are sending them out to family and 'close'friends not the 400 people on our list.

We gave one to our guests that we had at our e-party since they obvs will all be invited to our wedding. We put them with the favors. Everyone thought this was a great idea, and it def saved on postage (we had 85 ppl at the eparty). I am also planning on sending them to ppl we are DEF inviting to the wedding, but def not sending them to ppl we are not sure about.

Family and friends. Only people we were definitely inviting and knew that in a year we would still be talking to.

Re: Save the Date Question

Thanks for all of your responses. Really helpful!! The people I am on the fence about are from work. I've been at my firm for >5 years but have a new boss. Will end up inviting him if I still work for him but there are so many changes happening within the company, I want to wait a bit to make that call. Thanks ladies!
