So i'm putting together the address labels & have a ? ...for single friends who have a boyfriend/girlfriend or people who I don't know their 'status' do i address it to Mr. John Smith & Guest...or just Mr. John Smith & only include the '& guest' part on the actual invite?!?!

I would just put the name of your friend and leave the guest part for the invites.
I agree with everyone else, but I actually put '& Guest' for my international STD's, that way they could plan flights, etc as they'd be flying in. If they waited for the invite it might be too late for their guest to book a flight. Just something to think about...

ditto - plus you dont want to get stuck inviting them w/ a guest later if they break up or something! unless they are 'single' but dating for like years they dont need the 'and guest' on the STD!
I agree with everyone else - just put your friend's name on the STD & leave the 'and guest' for the invites.
This - unless they are practically engaged and I'd use the name but def not guest.
