Save the Date Question

As we are having a winter wedding, I have set up to take some 'winter' themed e-pics later this month. I was planning on using the pictures in the Save the dates. My question is - if I understand correct, the STD's are generally sent out 6-8 months before the wedding, which would be right in the middle of summer. Would it be weird to send a winter themed save the date in the middle of summer? IDK how this works. Maybe I am over thinking it. Did any other ladies do a specific season 'theme' surrounding your wedding month and send out the STD's in the opposite month? I guess I feel like its weird to get an invite in the middle of July with snowflakes on it or a picture of people in scarves and gloves LOL.

What do you ladies think??

Save the Date Question - Long Island Weddings

I don't think it's weird at all. Just a thought though, we sent ours out a year in advance because our wedding is right after Christmas, yours is right after the holidays as well so you might want to give people more notice than 6 months in case people are planning holiday vacations and things.

Not weird, but since you're a holiday time wedding I would send them out Jan. 2014. Watermill will be beautiful in Jan.

This. Being so close to the holidays I wouldn't wait the standard '6-8 months'. I'm sending mine out within the next week or so (they should be at my house tonight!!)

I wanted to make sure my OOT (and out of country) guests have PLENTY of time to plan since we're only 12 days before Christmas. Thats when a lot of holiday travels are happening... same for you wedding date!

I also wanted to beat the holiday card madness!

Re: Save the Date Question

I am in same boat. I have a fall themed save the date so I want to get it out by thanksgiving because I don't want people getting leaves and pumpkins in the spring/summer lol. I know it's early but at least now it's less than a year away.

Save the Date Question - Long Island Weddings

I am having a winter wedding, with winter themed engagement pics being taken this December. As my date may be a popular one, along with holiday parties, vacations and such, my goal is to send STDs out by February. It will also still be Winter when people get them.

I think our time of year allows a little rule bending, as more people go on vacation during this time, and have holidays and other obligations, so if you sent them out earlier (even march/april) it would still fit the time of year, and will also give people plenty of notice. =)

Save the Date Question - Long Island Weddings

I'm thinking of sending mine out early as well. I want a 4th of July weekend wedding and I think it might be better to give people plenty of notice. So hopefully by August/September they'll be out.

The sooner the better IMO. I sent mine out 13 months before. I was tired of everyone asking when the date was.
