Save the Date questions

Save the Date questions

Hey girls! I need your help on the save the dates.

1- Did you have the addresses printed right on the envelopes or did you use clear address labels?
Not sure what to do since I think my return address will be printed on the back flap on the envelope.

2- For the single guests, did you use Mr. and Miss. or just their first and last names?

3- What's the proper way to invite the whole family?
Mr. and Mrs. XX and family OR The XX Family

1- We sent postcards so I can't help with #1 (sorry!), but...

2- For single guests we just used their names (no miss or mr. I think it depends on how formal your save the dates are. Ours were postcards and pretty casual, but it might make sense to use Miss, Mr if they are fancier.

3-For whole families used 'The XX Family'

1 - I am going to use clear address labels with a nice script. I think it's perfectly ok for save the dates.

2 - I am going to put Mr. John Smith and even though 'etiquette' says not to put '& guest' for the STD, I want to put it, because I don't want our friends thinking they won't be invited with a guest. Both my mom and MIL said they agree that people may be offended and think they are only invited alone. I agree.

3 - We are not inviting any kids, but we are inviting whole families with children over 18, and I am giving them each their own STD I think, even if they all live in the same house.

Edited: spelling

I am just handwriting the envelopes. I have very neat handwriting and I always smudge the labels so I give up on them. I also can't wait to send them out for FH to print them at work. I'm too impatient. I admit it.

Like Stephanie I put 'Mr' or 'Ms.' however I didn't put the and guest. I wrote the guests name because I know who they are and they're also our friends even if they don't live together.

I put 'The XX Family' even though we're not inviting children ... but we are inviting families with children over the age of 18. if they still live at home... the HOUSEHOLD gets ONE STD. We're doing magnets so these people don't need 3-4 of them on the fridge lol

For the addresses we had them printed on the envelope only because I didn't feel like printing labels (I don't know how ) and we used Nicole from weddingink.net. She was awesome!

Single guests were Mr. or Ms. - Miss we did for the younger girls (we only have two)

For the family we put: The Smith Family

i used labels and they were postcards- we addressed it like everyone else said above but did not put '& guest' on them. It is wayyy too far out to add a guest in my opinion. We are inviting people with guests if they have been dating at least 1 year..Some of my friends have been dating their boyfriend's for that amount of time or longer, but I'm waiting until the wedding invites to invite their significant others to the wedding.. you never know what can happen to the relationships between the time you send out save the dates and when you send out wedding invites, and if some relationships end and you put '& guest' on the save the date, you are stuck inviting them with a date anyway!

I hand addressed mine to Mr. and Ms. (Miss is used only for 18 and under) for singles and like the ladies above I included the and Guest for them so they knew they would be invited plus one. For family's with grown kids we did The Smith Family, but we are only having age 16 and up, so for those with smaller children we addressed to the Mr and Mrs only.

I used clear labels

For singles I just addressed it to their name since it is just a save the date it's not an invitation.

For a family I sent one and address it the XXX family.

I'm going to try to print the addresses directly on the envelopes (practice for the actual invitations so I know if I have to invest in digital calligraphy or not!). If that doesn't work out, my mom and I will handwrite them in nice cursive.

For singles I'm doing Ms./Mr. and I'm including their significant others, but not generic '& guest.'

For families I was going to do 'The Smith Family,' but apparently that was confusing to some (one) on my engagement party invitations (don't ask me how...it is truly beyond me), so I might get specific and do 'Mr. & Mrs. John Smith' and then list the children's names on the next line.

Anyone who used labels- can you tell me how to do that? Maybe it's a silly question, but I have no idea!
