Save the Dates

Ok we want to end out save the date cards because our wedding is the day after thanksgiving and we want to make sure people know not to go away or to visit Grandma in Michigan or anything :)

Did any one else use save the date cards?

What wording or designs did you use/ will you use?

its not a destination wedding so what info do we put on it besides names and date?

thanks gals

Re: Save the Dates

Im sending mine out with a STD magnet and a note with the 'STD Poem'. I will also include all the information regarding hotel accomodations.

Re: Save the Dates

We made up a wedding website with all of our lodging and travel info and we included the website address on the card. The website will also contain photos from our engagement party, registry info (when that time comes) and it includes a story of how we met.

We also stamped a compass on the cards (we made them ourselves) since this is our motif for the wedding. We like the idea that the compass symbolizes us starting a new journey together in life and our love of the ocean.

I did! Here's a picture of mine. We have a website as well where we put all the hotel info, etc. The web address went on the STD (the picture below is just the sample, not a picture of our actual STD).

For wording I used verseit.com.

We used the scratch off save the date cards that look like lotto scratch off tickets. I think they are so cute and different. I also like the magnets.

Wow- your date is close to mine! I haven't seen many November 2005 brides yet :)

We made the magnets ourselves, and sent them in the thank yous for our engagement party... Anyone else who wasn't able to make it, we printed up pictures of ourselves and left room on the bottom to attach the magnet onto... Everyone loved them!

Heres a pic!

Woo-Hoo! Go November Brides!!!!

I originally wanted summer, Fiance wanted winter...we compromised.

Unfortunatley, got a bit upset last night when i realized that it will be dark out when we leave the church....maybe will have to take some pics beforehand. Im not really very supersticious so seeing him before isnt an issue.

Im loving the STD's (he he, abbreviations get naughty sometimes!) I'm seeing so far. Want it to be a mix of fun and formal. Want to set the tone of the wedding from the get go.
Gonna keep looking

When is a good time to send them out..i was thinking a year in advance because I dont want people to make thanksgiving plans before knowing about our wedding.

Re: Save the Dates

I have heard a year in advance is good... we didn't know that though and sent them out really really early :) But lots of people were happy we let them know the date so far ahead and already have them hanging on their fridge :)

We knew we either wanted spring or fall... A spring wedding was not happening within a year and two years seemed too long... We decided on November cuz I'm a teacher and its the week BEFORE Thanksgiving... that way I don't have to take a ton of time off of work, although I really would have preferred October. I don't mind too much about it being dark... I'm sure we'll still be able to get pix coming out of the Church, and I will just take the rest of the pix at the hall- there are lots of places to take them and theres a dock in the back with a waterfall and gazebo :)

How much planning have you other November brides gotten done so far?? :)

How do you make the magnet ones yourself? What program do you use on the computer? I'm clueless...I really like them and want to give it a try myself.

We used a print shop program I think, or one of those very simple card programs. We just used the business card template so we got about ten to a sheet, and when it came time to print we used the magnetic paper instead! Then we just had to take the time to cut them out... but it was very easy, and very cheap!

I made our magnets too. Just used powerpoint. It looked a little fuzzy on the computer, but printed out perfectly clear.

Hi Going Nutty & Anti Bride! I know, it feels like our day will NEVER come. But I am glad I started to early- my vendors weren't booked and I don't have to rush. I am definitely not a procrastinator! Plus, it took me a while to warm up to th eidea of having a wedding, and now I can enjoy the planning.
