I notice a lot of you are sending out save the dates for your wedding! Honestly the FI and I have never even talked about this, not to mention even thought about it. Is this some thing that we should really be doing or is it not necessary? Most every one we told by word of mouth...but whether they remember is one thing. What do you guys think?

it is not necessary but people do them so that guests have notice expecially if they have to travel or it is a holiday weekend... we are still toying with the idea because it is a holiday weekend and people will be coming from all over BUT they already should know about date from family talking and such...they are not too expensive so i think we will prob just do them!

FH and I have a lot of OOT guests (family and college friends). We are sending a Save the Date card to everyone just to let them know the official date. Our card will also have a link to our wedding website, which will have hotel information. We are getting ours from Shutterfly.com for about $1.50 each.

We are b/c of holiday weekend and so many oot guests! They are photo magnets for less than .45 cents each! Still waitng to see my proof from the manufacturer. I'll let you know how they come out!

We are not doing them. No one in my entire family has ever sent one. I never received one. I think my family will be shocked to get one. My FH says if they truly care, they will make sure that they are at the wedding. In this case most of the people invited already know the month/year we are getting married. I am sure some forgot the exact date, but regardless-if they care they will be there. I really think the STD is a waste...word of mouth is sufficient JMHO.

we're debating the same thing since we're planning for the memorial day weekend or the july 4th weekend.
we're considering just sending them out to our OOT guests or sending a free email STD from the knot or weddingchannel to save money.

I think that it might be a good idea especially since you and I are on memorial weekend. Alot of people plans things for that weekend and I didnt want them to forget about our wedding.
