Save the Dates

I am getting married in August. When should I mail my Save the Dates?

I mailed mine a few weeks ago (about 9 months in advance).

I'm also getting married in Aug and I think I'm going to send mine out in October. I know it's early but I'm afraid that if I wait until holiday season they'll get lost in all the other stuff that goes on then and if I wait until January the rooms at the hotel might be taken (we blocked off ten but I think we might need more).
