Is everyone just doing STD's for just the sake of it or because the wedding has a special case? For example-destination/holiday weekends...I am familiar with a sationary company in the city and that's usually when you see clients do them, but for some reason on liw, its like everyone does them without a special case reason...I am iffy-iffy now on whether I should or shouldn't do them...
Funny side note: STD's arent a normal tradition in Latin cultures, so I can only imagine if I do them, a bunch of confused spanish ladies calling my mom to ask why the invite is missing information! LMAOOOOoooooo!

It depends...FH and I sent out save the dates for 4 reasons
1- Out of Town Guests (they need more notice) 2- Father's Day is after our wedding in case people go away 3- Graduations (that is a BIG ONE) 4- Schools are out and people tend to go straight on vacation
P.S. I had a lot of older family members confussed they thought it was the invite...

Well thats the thing-you have special reasons, I don't that's why I wanna feel out if girls like me who don't have special reasons will do them regardless...there are 4 out of town guests from Romania that are coming those, I will send a STD this summer, the others are here so I don't know

we did ours because it's summer and near forth of july and alot of people go away on vacations and i didn't want anyone to have an excuse. and we have a few OOT guest that will have to make arrangements.

Im the same I have maybe 30 out of towners, why do I have to send STD's to my next door neighbor , cant I just call them and tell them???? They are all family or close friends....

You wedding is right on labor day?? Maybe you should. Cause I know some people go away for 3 day weekends. that might be a reason.

i did them bc i needed a project to do lol. i also wanted to give out my wedding website with more info on it. I mainly did it for my oot guests but ended up sending up a few of my close friends and family.

STD's arent normal in my cultures either but I think I will still send them out bec I will be the first to do so in my family and friends, I know thats a silly reason but I am also having OOT's so I would like them to get one.

We're doing them for 2 reasons... the first and most important is that the majority of our guests are from out of town... All of FH's family is in Pittsburgh, PA... and we went to school there so that is where a lot of our friends are from... so we're sending out all the hotel information and all. And second, it's summer and we don't want anyone to book up their vacations and miss our wedding!

our wedding is the friday after easter. we do not have next year's school calendar yet so we were worried that the Easter week vacation might be the week AFTER Easter since Easter is so early next year. That's the main reason we're doing STD's. BUT we also have a few out of state guests we'd like to give the info to and I thought it would be 'nicer' to send it like this. Plus we could get magnets cheap from Vistaprint that week so we went with it. I've heard that instead of an 80% YES response you get closer to a 90% YES if you send Save the Dates.

yeah thats another thing, alot of girls send it to EVERYONE which is not what you do...so you def dont have to send to each person you are inviting

you're gonna send it to ppl in romania, if you think latin culture this will confuse them what do you think it will do there. I can imagine my grandmother she'll think its just a pretty picture im sending her

we werent gonna do them we thought it would be a waste of money. Then we realized we booked Memorial day weekend so....we did them. I got a great deal on post cards from vista print with the STDs and envelopes it only cost me $15 for 100 STDs!!!! heres the link if u wanna check it out! we put magnets on them they came out poretty good! you upload the image you want and they print them! the post cards are FREE the envelopes were $5 and Shipping was $10 def check it out
