I was just wondering. I ordered my save the dates and I put my name first and then I looked at the samples on the website and I realized that the FH name was first. So I changed it. I showed my mom the STD's tonight and she told me I did them wrong and that the girls name was supposed to be first. Any thoughts? What is the correct format?

With monograms and such, I've heard the bride's name goes first but with something that's kinda more casual like a STD, I don't think the rules are too strict.

everything I've done so far has my name first. i dont think it matters if you did it the other way.

Thanks. I didnt think so either and i have checked on a bunch of websites and its kind of arbitrary. But since they are the first thing to go out i dont want to mess them up.

And don't worry about 'messing up'...a) I don't think there are any rules about that and b) rules were made to be broken!!

Tradtionaly the women name comes first, but because I like everything diffrent I put FH name first on everything. I don't see where it makes a diffrence.
I always thought the women went first because of two things 1st - Ladies first and 2nd - the bride family was paying for it. I could be wrong but I don't see a diffence.

my name is first only because my name is ALWAYS first. I'm such a brat. Minigolf score cards, board games, video games... I always go first.
I don't think there are any rules for save the dates. They are fairly new, and most of my family/friends have never even heard of them.

I think the girl's name usually goes 1st but HONESTLY it doesn't matter!! They are very cute!!

I did the exact same thing without realizing how I ordered my std. the sample had the FH name first so I ordered it like that. When they came in I second guessed that choice. Oh well they went out and noone said anything. LOL

I am sorry...but I was told by the place who made my STD's that the female's name does go first. That being said, I do not think anyone will think anything of it if you left it the way it is

I had the same problem. I was putting my name first on everyting. FH got upset his name was last on all our stationary haha. So I looked it up and technically the correct way is for the girls name to go first. But I dont think it really matters.

Thanks, the actual personalized piece is seperate (i had to attach them myself) so i think im going to contact the company and see if they can just reprint and send the labels with my name first. Im so new to this stuff....
