SAVE THE DATES

SAVE THE DATES

Our wedding is next June, 2010 ... and I don't know when I should send out my STD's. I have ALOT of guests from out of town/state. Also, should I include hotel block info on the STD or put it all up on a webpage?!

Re: SAVE THE DATES

I'm two weeks before you and I sent mine out about 2 weeks ago. I think it was a week less than a year away when I sent them. I also have a lot of OOT guests, so that's why I sent them earlier.

As for hotel info, I put the hotel cards in with the STD's only for OOT guests and BP members. I will put the hotel info for everyone else in the invitations. I do have all of the info up on my website though, which the address is on my STD.

Send out the STD soon. Its something to tell people that you are getting married and they should not make plans for that weekend. ESPECIALLY if its a holiday weekend.

My save the date had our website info. The website had all the hotel info.

If you are NOT having a website you MUST have the hotel info on the save the date if you know there are a lot of OOT.

Get the hotel block set, then send the STD.

Hope this helps.

Re: SAVE THE DATES

Thank you =) We blocked our hotel so that's said and done, I guess now I just have to make up the STD's and get them on their way? How did everyone do theirs? A compnay, themselves?

Those are really cute!! Are they postcards? What company did you use?

I used MagnetStreet.com

Re: SAVE THE DATES

We did postcards.

BUT!

We got the postcards and sent 2 to ourselves as a 'test'.

They both came back in BAD condition!!! They had marks on them, and looked like they had been through a lot. So we ended up buying really pretty envelopes and mailing them instead! So much for saving on postage and evnelopes!

I dont know the site we used but they were good. I can ask the FH. But we did ALL the artwork --The black bar on the side of the front, the change of the picture to 'artwork' in the back, all the wording-- In photoshop.

Otheriwse there are a ton of sites that are really easy 'Do it yourself' that you dont need skill to pull off.

Re: SAVE THE DATES

My mom claims Peggy Post's book on wedding etiquette says 6 months before. I would have sent them once date was booked and guest list was finalized. Keep in mind things can change, and you definitely have to invite whoever gets a save the date, so maybe only send to A list for now.

Usually 10-12 months ahead of time. I sent mine in January and I'm getting married in October.
