save the dates
For you ladies that have booked your dates have you sent out save the dates yet? I have a photo shoot on the 27th and I was I thinking if having them made right away and then sending them.for 2 reasons.....
1) dont want to worry about it later. I'll have other things to do later!
2) we r getting married in March a friend of ours and most of our friends, is getting married in Florida, they haven't booked a date yet but r looking into feb 2015, I want to make sure our friends have enough notice to plan accordingly so they can go to both. some are even in both weddings!
is sending them out in November too soon?

save the dates - Long Island Weddings
2014 bride crashing...i think it is too soon. if your wedding is 3/2015 then you don't have to send them out until 6-9 months before. Although there is no 'rule' people may get confused - may throw out the save the date - may forget --- anything is possible.my wedding is 5/2014 and we didn't do our engagement photos until mid june of 2013. by the time the pictures were edited and the save the dates were purchased - stamped- sealed and mailed it was end of july/beginning of august. I was worried that they weren't out in time. I also have another family member getting married a WEEK before my wedding (planned after my date was set - ridiculous i know)...but it was around the 9 mo mark which I thought was early - yet not too early.
hope this helps!

I plan on sending mine out around March. This is about 10 months before my wedding.. but my younger brother is getting married a month after me so I want to put some space in between mine and his save the dates. Also, FH has a decent amount of family coming from Florida so I think ten months is a good amount of time. I definitely don't plan on sending out before then. In the meantime, we have been letting family know verbally that we are all booked and to save the date, just to get the idea in their head. Also, the thing I would worry about sending them now is that they may get lost/thrown out in the mix of everyone's holiday cards.

Crashing...It's definitely too early for two reasons. 1) Somebody mentioned this before but you don't want to confuse your guests. I know this will sound crazy but someone will think it this March. That is why it's suggested that you wait after the year mark. 2) Most hotels will not allow you to book a block more than a year in advance. Hotel info should either go directly on the STD or your wedding website should be on it (which would lead them to your hotel info). I was really antsy to send them out but it benefits you in the long run if you wait until after the year mark.

I would suggest waiting on sending them out, but if you are anxious about getting them done get them all desgined and ordered. But hold off on sending them out bc by time you get them but together you are also going to be having holiday cards sent out and such and people might lose them. If you are worried about you friends from Florida you can always send out an email to just them letting them know as an electronic save the date sorta thing.

I couldn't wait to send mine out because I wanted our date out there, but I held off for these reasons and low and behold I still haven't sent them out. Now I am waiting until January.

This. Take a breather. FH and I got engaged 12/13/12 and had our venue, dj and photographer booked by february of 2013.
we just did our e-shoot at the end of september and we plan on sending out our STDs in november. Which is 13 months before the wedding and the reason for that is:
1.Most of my family is out of state (and some out of country).
2. I'm worried about other weddings being booked on my date and I want to be the FIRST that my guests have the STDs for. 12/13/14 was booked even before we booked our own venue at 2 other venues so its a legit concern of mine.
3. I want to get out BEFORE the holiday card rush.
4. We're 13 days before christmas. I want my OOT guests to plan accordingly for flights and stuff.
So I think you should AT LEAST wait until a year out!!!
But definitely take a break. Save up the money and just relax. I've been buying little things here and there during my 'break' and now I'm in like 'wedding mode'.

agreed.. I'm an August 2014 bride and I will be mailing out my save the date's in January because I don't want people to toss them with the holiday cards! Also the mail is crazy around this time until then. I would do the absolute earliest at a year.
hth!

I am in the same boat with wanting to send them out but more so because we have so many things going on that it would just be one less thing to worry about. The solution we choose to this as we didn't want to send them out until the year mark was to order them, which we did about 2 weeks ago. My fiancé put everything together so all that we have left is to address and stamp them... Also if you order them I suggest taking one envelope how it's going to be mailed and bringing it to the post office and getting it weighed so you know how much it is going to cost to mail them. Stamps are going up so we did just that. I understand when everyone says 6-9 months is an appropriate time to send them out but I'm on board for the year mark, especially if you are thinking about doing a magnet, something that is likely to not get thrown out as everyone I know puts it right up on the fridge when they get it. Just my opinion, good luck with whatever you decide.Welcome New Vendors
